That's OK. Looks like the Seahawks will be keeping them company in the basement this season.

Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano pitched the franchise's first no-hitter since 1972 on Sunday night, striking out 10 Astros, walking one and hitting a batter in a 5-0 victory at Miller Park.
And now the cubs lead is 7.5

Jeter tried the Iron Horse today with a Home run for the most hits in the old Yankee stadium, that record will not carry over to the new stadium. When Jeter breaks the record, nobody ever will break it.

The last Cubs no-hitter was by Milt Pappas, who lost a perfect game in the ninth on a questionable ball/strike call.

And for a bit of fun, compare the dimensions of Yankee Stadium throughout history. Makes all the blasts by Ruth and Gehrig even more amazing.

Zambrano got his no-hitter...the last hitter swung at a pitch painfully out of the strike zone.  But I guess his arm isn't so bad yet.

But today....Phils rested, Mucking Fets played the Nats and lost....Pedro fell to 5-5.

Phils are now .5 out of first in the NL East.  Good place.  Wish we could play the Nats 7 times in September, though...

Well Nats folded the last 2 to the Mets but the Phils swept the Braves.  First team to sweep a home series over 4 ever vs the Braves and best Phillies season record against them with 3 more still to play in Philly.  Not so bad.

So we move on, .5 ahead.  Anyone's game.

Question, Being Yankee and Shea Stadium closing up this year. Which stadium will have the honor of being number third oldest in Baseball; behind Fenway and Wrigley?

That would be Dodger Stadium, which opened its doors in 1962.

Great question.  Both had their first game the day the Titanic sank.

My father saw his first game in the Baker Bowl...It's famous for perhaps the worst collapse ever.

So today, the Mucking Fets are leading for now...for now...

At 7:22 pm EDT, on September 20, 2008, the Tampa Bay Rays clinched their first playoff berth in franchise history with a 7-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

Do you know what that means? We'll finally get to see the Rays on national broadcast TV!

Is it ironic, that the Cubs won back to back divisions, for they didn't do this or any kind of back to back for a hundred years, when the Cubs won the World Series in 1907 & 1908

Prey that the Mariners go on a winning streak to win every game left in the season, to stay away from the dreaded 100 lost mark... with only 2 to go

Haw! Why break a streak? 11 losses in a row. And we're a mere 38 games out of first place in our division.

Gotta keep those pesky Nationals form getting the first pick in the draft.

I don't like Ralph Nasder at all, but he does have a sense of humor. He met with the editorial board of the Washington Post and, among other things, asked why they weren't covering his race.

"Because you can't win," one said.

"So why do you cover the  Nationals?" Nader asked.
