Yes I know about that it is a problem in the US, and I'm glad it is finally addressed with movies like Sicko. I just think it's odd that a young and healthy person like Vixen who makes good money as a stripper, can't afford it, but can afford boobies that probably cost her well beyond 10000 dollars in total. I mean, I'd rather pay, lets say, 200 bucks a month for health insurance, than end up with surgery costs that could bankrupt me - especially when I have a higher risk of getting ill due to overly large brast implants anyway.

Seems to me many Americans are pretty careless about their own health, and would rather pay off huge SUVs each month than invest some money in health insurance. My brother lives in Hawaii, and he has plenty of young neighbors who rather save the money monthly insurance fees would cost, and choose to spend it on partying or oversized cars instead.

On another hand:
Maybe a normal health insurance doesn't cover illnesses that are directly related to unnecessary surgical procedures such as breast augmentations. Though I don't know that much about US health care, it's just an assumption.

I'm not sure about say "catastrophic health coverage" or something along those lines.  However, I can say that with the insurance plan I have at work, which is not all that great of a plan, between what I pay and what my employer contributes, the insurance company is essentially collecting something like $16000 per employee per year.

In essence, Vixen's implants were cheaper than a year of my health insurance.

We pay about 3000 dollars per citizen on average in our universal health care, and it seems to me we get more out of it. Seems you guys in the US get robbed big time, with insurance companies lining their shareholders pockets with your hard earned money.

Well, I guess that's a discussion for another thread, don't wanna hijack Vixens get well thread for a discussion about health care.

Wabbit, I want to thank you for keeping everyone here informed on Vixens current status. You have been getting the info up before I can.

I have been overwhelmed lately with RL on my end.

To Vixens safe , and HEALTHY return from Mexico.

To answer the question about Vixens implants and her ability to get them. She was able to work and saved for them.  Because of her illness she has been unable to work for the last 10 months.

Her savings are gone.  The money we collected for her is also gone, and her last operation put her $7000 in the hole.  This one by going to Mexico will run her (est) $4000 - $5000.  For those able to help her she needs whatever we can afford to send her.

This really shows how dangerous breast augmentation can be.
I love fake boobs just as much as most members here, but it makes you think about your own fetish.
Is it morally right to promote such body modifications and encourage women to get them, if they endanger the health of our favorite models?

Just a random thought.

That is a really dangerous thought to make.

Breast augmentations by far are usually very safe.  For what it's worth, Vixen has voiced her opposition to what most plastic surgeons consider to be "safe".  Yes, going large is one thing, but there's a difference between slowly going large - what a lot of models have done - and engaging in a potentially dangerous operation in the first place.

Also, while Vixen has been reluctant to give us any details on her illness, she has made it clear that it has nothing to do with her implants.

I just think that it's a high risk game to pay tens of thousands of dollars on boobies and not a single dollar on your own health insurance. When you're young and healthy the odds that you don't need insurance anytime soon are in your favor, but when you have bad luck and get ill, you have a very serious problem on your hands.

That's just my opinion, but to me, if you can't afford both at the same time, paying for health insurance should have a higher priority than paying for not really necessary things like giant boobs (as much as I love them!), oversized cars etc. You shouldn't gamble with your own health, the stakes are just too high!

Sooooo why will no doctor in the States touch her and force her to go to Mexico for a non-FDA approved operation?

Look, I'm not trying to flame Vixen or make light of her situation.  But the fact of the matter is, she asked the community for literally thousands of dollars and has been very non-forthcoming with what exactly is wrong with her.

I understand that medical problems are intensely personal.  But she cannot play both sides of the game.

When did she ask for money?  She mentioned how much she needed and that it would be nice if people helped, but she was reserved in her posts about actually asking.  It was her 'Angels' that were asking people to help.

If you read many of her posts, you can guess what is wrong, and it appears, to me at least, that the reason for the Mexico trip was because that was the only surgery she could afford with what she had left.

Personally, as one of her biggest contributers, she hasn't told me what is wrong, I don't feel a need to know what is wrong, and respect her privacy on this issue.

Echoing Munchwolf's sentiments, I, too, feel no need to have any details of Vixen's illness.  True, there are those who'd take anyone they can for everything they can, but Vixen is not one of them.

Vixen, sweetie, get well soon, and don't fergit to check your PM's when you get home.

I'm in complete agreement.  Get well soon and try to relax.  Stress can be very harmful so if your reading this try listening to your favorite music to help with any pain your in.

In my opinion the FDA don't work for the people but big business so I could imagine much need lifesaving operations not being allowed here.  (FDA is a corporate bitch)

I never thought the illness was implant related.  Her not telling use may be to safe us from worrying even more. It probably was very hard for her to mention what she did mention.

Me too.
She would get treatment here without paying a dime for it if she can't afford it, and she definitely wouldn't need to go to a 2nd world country to seek treatment that she can afford. But you gotta make due with what you have, so I wish her all the best on her recovery.

The United States has Medicaid, which is health insurance for low income people.  So please don't turn this into a pissing contest over a nation's medical system.

This is not an affordability issue.  Vixen's own words said that she's going to Mexico because of the FDA, not because of what she can or cannot afford.  And as the FDA does not have restrictions on actual surgical operations, rather devices and drugs.

It is speculation as long as she does not disclose what treatment she needs. And it is highly likely that nobody aside from friends and family will ever learn of it. So all that remains is to wish her well or to support her financially when she needs it.

I for one think that the financial contributions of BEA members without many questions asked is awesome and rare. Few people would give away thousands of dollars to a stranger in need.
