Well... this year sees the 30th Anniverary of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Originally the show was looking for a 'latino' style babe to play 'Macha Hernandez' the tactical officer. Marina Sirtis went for the role and the blonde haired Denise Crosby went for the role of Councelor Deanna Troi. Roddenberry decided to do a switch up and Macha Hernandez became Tasha Yar and Denise Crosby got the role and the role of Troi went to Marina Sirtis. Somewhat fortuitously as she was about to return to England as her visa was about to expire on the day she was cast. Had the call come a mere one hour later, Sirtis would have been back in England and we may have had an entirely different Troi. Interestingly, Roddenberry originally wanted the character to have four breasts, but his wife said that this would be a bad idea. I have unearthed some early shots of Marina taken in 1986. She still looks great today though too.
