I would definetly have to agree with what Esper had to say.  Implants though somewhat "popular" in Japan, are not exactly common among Japanese models.  I think one of the problems with this arguement, (or whatever it is) is that many people have failed to make the distinction between Japanese Idols (models) and AV Actresses (polite term for "porn actress").  Idols are generally admired for their NATURAL beauty, and generally are meant to retain a wholesome image.  Implants among them are practically unheard of. (though Harada chan has been sort of an anomaly.  Still can't tell if she's natural or not.  Not like I give a damn, she not really my type, her features are a little too "porcelain".)  AV Actresses however are a little more free to do as they wish, what with the lack of PR stuff and an image to uphold.

Anyway, just thought I would throw that out there.

IMHO, this just makes the case for the idols actually having implants even stronger. The average bust size of these idols is far larger than that of the porn actresses, but if porn actresses were less afraid to have implants, wouldn't they be bigger still? Also, isn't it strange that the vast majority of the biggest busted models (apart from the chubby AV actresses, or Miki and Anna, who I think are natural), don't go topless? Do you think it might be so people will never be able to find out they're implanted?

Having a natural image is not the same thing as actually being natural in reality!

P.S. As regards the Zookie's question, I think the main reason Japanese surgeons don't advertise their wares overseas is that they can be surprisingly insular when it comes to this stuff. For example, many of their nightclubs have signs outside saying "no foreigners" - in Japanese!

Just to give my 2 cents worth... there ARE many asian girls who spot Ds and above.It's only that most of them have faces like pugs or harpies. Well, the majority of the remainding who Do have pretty faces are either too short or have really bad bust to waist ratio (in short, BBW). What we have in the end are a small handful of creme de la creme. When some of them are seen by professional photographers or head hunters, you get people like Harumi, Yoko, Rio, etc.
Personnaly, i don't think those mentioned models had BA. Augmentation is still a taboo to asians. If it wasn't, big-breasted asian porn won't be such a rarity, would it not?

I don't think there is any 'explosion'. We just know about
them. Japan has a rather large population and we get to see
those on the upper end of the bell curve of breast size.
We are only talking a couple dozen women here out of a huge
population. I think they've always been there, maybe a bit
more now thanks to diet, food being easy to get, etc. Plus
there's always what becomes popular at any given time.

And really, some of these women are particularly average
looking (not ugly of course, but just average and there's
nothing wrong with that.) other than their breasts. If it
was about implants, then the prettier
women would just have the market to themselves. I've seen
lots of japanese girls as pretty as rio, just not with
breasts like that.

I don't think there is such a thing as a woman being too short, unless you're talking about true dwarf size. Very petite women (stature-wise) have their place, and of course many of these women with the wild curves are on the short side. So it all evens out, I guess.

Wow. That's messed up. They don't know what they are missing! The market is so large, and there is such a pent-up demand for augmentation surgery (esp. if they could do silly-string), and here they are with this attitude...oh well.

Cultural differences, really. While the Japanese have certainly become more westernized over the past 15-20 years due to globalization (not to mention their genuine love for all things American), they're still very much in to the "body as a temple". It's the same reason why you don't see as many native Japanese, especially women, with lots of tattoos or body piercings either. It would be interesting to do research on this while they still have an inkling left of their own culture.

Edit: I dunno who that girl is, whether she's real or fake, or what she had for dinner last night, but she's got a very impressive rack.

In general, the prettiest girls anywhere (including in the west) don't get huge implants. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part the best looking girls don't feel they need them, so they don't bother. They are after all a lot of trouble and expense, and are often frowned upon by mainstream society.

There seems to be a wide assumption here that Asian women are not into breast surgery (or plastic surgery in general), but the facts simply do not bare this out. Pick up almost any Asian magazine - there's an ad for cosmetic surgery (including breast surgery) on almost every other page. Far more in fact than you'll find in any western magazine.

Believe me, Asian women are really into plastic surgery these days - often, sadly, to look more western. They just try their best to make it look as natural as possible, because they don't want anyone to think they've had surgery - and judging by this forum, they've been wildly successful!

Wow, I couldn't disagree more.  I'm 99.99% sure that the regular bikini models/idols loved here at the BEA (Rio, Yoko, Harumi, Megumi, Saori etc.) are natural.  (Don't know much about the girl who launched the thread.)  And of course I agree that Miki and Anna are natural as well.  I don't follow many others so I can't comment on their chests, but many bikini models are discovered at a young age (ex. Saori Yamamoto, at 15 or 16).

Spending a lot of time in Japan due to work, I also dispute that breast implants are popular in Japan.  I think they're pretty uncommon, especially compared to the U.S.  I'd like to see percentages by population - it'd be quite interesting.

The two fastest growing (hehe ) countries in the world by terms of cosmetic surgery, especially augmentation, are BRAzil (sorry, had to... ) and Japan.  Japan being the leader in breast augmentation between them.

It is regretfully true that most Japanese women will go for a natural look from implants...  But I still hope and pray for a day we see some mega-mammed Japanese girls.
