I'm going to wax existential for one moment --
God, I miss the Nineties, and I never took advantage of them either. So many big bust stars, and so much Dow boom. Of course, some of that was the dot-com bubble, but you still had a sense that the world had it figured out. And I loved Google from day one, I should have bought it.
I'm not saying we'll never see new great things -- but I don't think we'll get to luxuriate in a WAVE like that ever again. This is looking to be a serious, scrappy century. When Prince sang about partying like it was 1999, he wasn't kidding. "By the year 2000 we'll be out of luck, out of time." The world didn't end, but a chance at relaxing in it did.
All right, back to reality --
The big question is, have we seen the floor? Last week settled at 8451, and my guess of 7227 was briefly legitimized by a quick intra-day dip below 8000.
If I miss any super-bargains these days, I won't feel too bad, but this IS the time to start thinking about buys. I guess these days I'm wondering, what's out there which may someday (some decade) take the Dow to 22,222 ... ?
