High Intensity Treatment (HIT) for a kind of in situ environmental remediation method.

I suggested we improve upon it, and call OURS "Special High Intensity Treatment" and if it doesn't completely do the job the first time, use MORE "Special High Intensity Treatment."

I saw my share of acronyms in the military, but my favorite HAS to be..

TWAIN: Technology Without An Interesting Name I kid you not, that's what it stands for!  

FYI, it has to do with computer software/hardware that interfaces with scanners.

Yes, that one is definitely one of my favorites. It's one of the cleverest self-referential acronyms by far.

In contrast, acronyms like GNU (which stands for "GNU's Not Unix") just make me scratch my head in annoyance.
