Wish I could get that guy who did those weird scans to do them again them again.  Not sure what caused that "banding" effect, haven't seen that before.  It's not the same as that "moire" pattern (think that's what it's called) that used to happen when scanning old photos.

The guy scanned the black-and-white photos in color. A flatbed scanner records three versions of an image, one for reds, one for greens, one for blues, then aligns the three images and makes a composite image from them. But it appears that the guy's scanner or software didn't align the three images perfectly, so it created a moiré pattern that didn't exist in the original image.
