You are right, SamV, yet I still worry. There are more "morans" out there than you think, and they often vote :)
And did you catch GMA this morning and their report on the latest poll about Palin that shows most of the county, and that even includes a 52% majority of Republicans, hold the same view of the woman as I wrote about in my previous post?

And they also threw in some stats on the current view Americans have of the tea party for good measure.

Believe me I don't see Palin, or the tea party either, gaining enough traction to ever be a political force to be reckoned with.
(About the only thing a tea party candidate would do in the 2012 election is screw up the chances of a Repub candidate winning.)

I also loved the fact that this "news" was delivered on Palin's birthday. :) 8)

No I didn't -- but I just looked it up:

HuffPost: "Palin Unqualified To Be President, Says Vast Majority Of America"

So I can breathe a little bit easier now...a very little though :)

I have a suspicion that a day is coming when the sort of Palin fan who would insist "She didn't quit; she decided to advance in a bold new way," the sort of Palin fan who declared "Aw, you're all just afraid of a girl!" (conveniently forgetting this was very much his own side's attitude to the presidential candidacy of Hilary Clinton not so long before), the sort of Palin fan who's been gushing about how he and his friends keeping buying each other "Going Rogue" as gifts, that sort of Palin fan someday will try to wiggle out by claiming "What, me a Palin fan?  Oh, maybe I was a teensy bit enthusiastic about her for a day or two, but a fan, don't you go trying to smear me, you revisionist historian you."  And yet again a vast irony will be completely lost upon precisely the sort of mind that made Palin such a phernomenon in the first place.

Anyone want to get out a stopwatch to see how long the Scott Brown phenomenon lasts?

Given some of the utterLEE outrageous character assassinations from the tea party regarding governmental officials, and the Pres in particular, they hardly have a leg to stand on when someone employees the same technique against them, even if it was unintentional in a comic book story.

Quote
"Palins Say 'Family Guy' Creators Are Heartless Jerks After Show Mocks Down Syndrome Son"

Rather than going into details as to how she felt, Sarah Palin posted her 19-year-old daughter Bristol's response to the controversy.

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's family on Tuesday said the creators of American animated show "Family Guy" were "heartless jerks" after the show appeared to mock Palin’s Down syndrome son in an episode.

In a post on her **24** page early Tuesday, Palin said it felt "like another kick in the gut" when a female character who apparently had Down syndrome made comparisons to Palin's 22-month-old son, Trig, in the episode of the Fox network show.

"My dad's an accountant, and my mom's the former governor of Alaska," the mentally disabled character said, without mentioning any names.

Rather than going into details as to how she felt, Palin posted her 19-year-old daughter Bristol's response to the controversy, saying it was "a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make."

Bristol wrote: "Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday [Sunday], they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks."

Palin, a Fox News contributor, recently slammed White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and radio talk host Rush Limbaugh for using the word "retard."

Fox is owned by News Corp, the parent company of NewsCore.
Few quick thoughts.

1. Sarah Palin couldn't come up with her own thoughts so she had to crib them from her daughter...typical. I keep remembering that SNL sketch with Andy Samberg-as-Rahm Emanuel.

2. The joke wasn't about the kid being retarded, it was about a retarded kid who had Sarah as a mother, implying that she herself is retarded. (AFAIK Todd Palin isn't an accountant, but I guess that's a detail that got lost on the way to making an easy crack at Sarah Palin by Seth MacFarlane.)

3. Offending people through often-times puerile humor is what Seth (and South Park) do. Why express shock and outrage when a dog barks?

4. Finally, as usual, Sarah Palin tries to make hay out of something. It's always about her, the prima fucking donna. Get over yourself already.

How retarded is it that that woman has set herself up as the sole representative/conscience/arbiter of fairness for the special needs community? Not "nonpartisanship", "BIpartisanship". "Bi" being a Latin root word for "two", meaning it takes two to tango. You can't be bipartisan all by yourself. If the other side refuses to play ball, but instead has set itself up as a party of opposition (instead of being what it's supposed to be, an opposition party), well, whose fault is that?

There was a famous Beauty pageant for Miss Alaska, that came thru Oregon rodeo festival that was looking for a husband and systematically ask guys if they wanted to move up north, because she had a bad back and wanted a rugged guy to help her. She ask me to join her for a drink and I accepted it, but she was just to weird for me to handle. She was very gorgeous and I fantasize about it, but she just moved way to fast in the courting. If you could even call it that. Then the next thing I know she got some guy to break down the Hot tub door that was suppose to be closed by lifting the hinge out. There she was butt naked with another guy. That was way back before she got married.

Walk a mile in her shoes before you step all over her. Sarah Palin was unheard of before that moderate maverick, John S. McCain, picked her to be his running mate. I surmise that she might have remained in Alaska in perpetuity because she was happy there, getting things done. It wasn't until she was thrown to the media wolves by her own campaign that her family was turned into a political football--and NOT by her.

What the majority of the American people now see in Sarah Palin is the polar opposite of the man who currently occupies the Oval Office--someone with established executive experience in government and in the private sector, who takes responsibility for her duties both to her family and to the state and nation in which she lives. The way I see it, the more the media makes an issue of Sarah Palin, the more attractive a candidate she makes for a nation desperately in need of real hope and change--hope that the nation isn't being summarily destroyed by malice or incompetence, and a change in the relationship of the Washington establishment to the people who they are supposed to represent.

Slamming Palin because she takes issue with thinly veiled insults to her and her special-needs toddler is the same as slamming Barack Obama's children simply because they are fat (according to Michelle "My Belle" Obama), which I have never claimed to do, and have never advocated anyone else to do.

Take yourself and your appalling lack of scruples and decorum out of this thread post-haste. You're only damaging your own cause by defending the point.

Wah wah wah...supermajorities in the House and Senate AND a sitting President, and you can't get anything done? Cry me a freakin' river. It's not like the American people want anything to get done anyway. From all the Porkculus bills running through Congress since 2007, to TARP, PAYGO, the Healthcare Monstrosity, Cap-and-Tax, the Jobless Bill, and all these other nonsensical sacks of shit you call legislation, absolutely nothing has stopped or prevented millions of jobs lost, unemployment in the double digits (closer to 20% counting those who gave up searching), inflation set to skyrocket 16% this year, inaction on clean nuclear power, kickbacks to unions, and recently the creation of a blue-ribbon panel to assess the nation's fiscal mess created by none other than Barack Obama himself (aka duck-and-cover for tax increases on EVERYBODY).

Need I mention that tax revenues this year will equal spending levels prior to 2007 when Pelosi and the Spend-o-Crats came into congressional power following the 2006 elections? Please tell me how bad it was in 2007 when we only spent $2 Trillion? Think about it--reversing all spending levels to 2007 markers would balance the budget TODAY. Give me even ONE legitimate economic marker that has improved in our nation since 2007 with the creation of a $1.5 Trillion ($1,500,000,000,000) deficit every year into the foreseeable future by the Congressional Democrats and Barack Hussein Obama (Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm!)?

If that is what you call bipartisanship, you can shove that so far up your rectum it comes out your oral cavity. I'm absolutely astounded by your intellectual bankruptcy in this regard and I praise the current resiliency of the Republican Party as it stands to resist whatever it can in terms of totalitarian governmental laws.

Quote from: TheZookie007
So, you are proud of being a follower of a willfully ignorant, ambitious beyond her station, hypocritical, slightly mercenary, mildly racist at times, former governor of Alaska? 1. Ignorant? She has more executive governmental experience and entrepreneurial common sense in her pinky than Obama in his whole body. And Obama being a Harvard grad doesn't do much for his resume, in my humble opinion...according to you, a Yale grad got us into this mess (remember George W. Bush?). I don't place any value on education credentials in government anymore.

2. Ambitious beyond her station? Let's hear from Barack Obama himself:

Quote from: Barack Obama
I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.

Talk about arrogant ambition. This man was supposed to be the "Messiah" of this nation. Has ANY of that even remotely come close to happening, and how in the hell does he plan to stem the rise of the oceans, if we even ought to accept his blatantly faulty premise in the first place?!? ::)

3. Hypocritical? Barack Obama voted for EVERY PIECE of spending legislation authorized in the Bush Adminstration's final years, and now he claims to turn around and oppose EVERY PIECE of "abhorrent spending" by the Bush Administration? Not only that, but he's DOUBLED DOWN on all that spending and tossed on at least $1 Trillion more!

4. Slightly mercenary? How many people has Obama thrown under the bus since he ran for president? Let me count the people...his pastor, Reverend Jeremiah "Goddamn America" Wright, his mentor, Bill "Weather Underground" Ayers, countless "blue-dog" congressional Democrats, the governors of Virginia and New Jersey, and even the so-called "Ted Kennedy" seat in Massachusetts for crying out loud! That is just to name a few of the people he's bulldozed, not to mention all the Chicago "thug" politics he learned and practiced in Chicago and Illinois as a state legislator (where, as Switcher points out, he voted "Present" at least 130 times).

5. Mildly RACIST?!? How you even possibly entertain the insane notion that this woman has one racist bone in her body, given the fact she ran on a political ticket against a black man, is beyond me. Even a cursory review of her memoir reveals a uniquely compassionate, truly American feminist who is smashing all the political conventional wisdom while also succeeding in a truly vociferous political climate where the powers that be are scrambling at all levels of government to maintain their feeble grips on power and control. Did I mention her husband, Todd Palin, is multiracial himself?

All I have to point out about Barack Obama in this instance is to indicate that he sat in the pews of one of the most petulantly racist, bigoted churches pastored by the nearly-psychotic Reverend Jeremiah "Goddamn America" Wright, for 20 years, to indicate that Obama has acquired, or at the very least sought advice from, people with deeply-rooted hatred for this country in general and the "white people" in particular. Take this little sermon excerpt for instance:

Quote from: Jeremiah Wright
Who cares about what a poor black man has to face every day in a country and a culture controlled by rich white people?  Somebody missed that.  You got nervous because we got some white members here.  I am still in Bible country.  I am still in the text.  Jesus was a poor black man who lived in a country and who lived in a culture, that was controlled by rich white people! The Romans were rich. The Romans were Italians -- which means they were European, which means they were white -- and the Romans ran everything in Jesus' country.  It just came to me with -- with -- within the past few weeks, y'all, why so many folk are hatin' on Barack Obama.  He doesn't fit the model!  He ain't white, he ain't rich, and he ain't privileged. (cheers) Hillary fits the mold.  Europeans fit the mold! Giuliani fits the mold. Rich white men fit the mold.  Hillary never had a cab whiz past her and not pick her up, because her skin was the wrong color. Hillary never had to worry about being pulled over in her car as a black man driving in the wrong lane!  I am sick of Negroes who just do not get it!  Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single parent home; Barack was.  Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people!  Hillary can never know that!  Hillary ain't never been called a nigger.  Hillary has never had her people defined as nonpersons.  Hillary ain't had to work twice as hard just to get accepted by the rich white folk who run everything, or to get a passing grade when you know you are smarter than their C-students sitting in the White House.  Ooooh, I am so glad that I got a God who knows what it is to be a poor black man in a country and a culture that is controlled by and run by rich white people!

That quote is pure, unmitigated racism in its most vitriolic form, and Obama sat in his pews for 20 years, soaking it all up. To believe with any intellectual honesty that Sarah Palin is the real racist is to admit to such sophistry as should never see the light of day in any respectable intellectual debate.

In this way, I have demonstrated most clearly that not only is Sarah Palin NOT any of these things, it is precisely those who rail against her who seem to stand MOST guilty of the very sins she is accused--political leftists, socialists, communists, marxists and whackos. Why are these the people, dear Zookie, with whom you feel most politically aligned? I could ask that of any leftist on this board, because I fail to see how any honest appraisal of the facts could lead you to any other conclusion than that Sarah Palin, contrary to being the future evil she is portrayed to be, is actually one of the brightest hopes of a nation that desperately seeks the elimination of pure political insanity, perpetrated by an entire Democrat Party against the will of an entire nation!

Please get your head out of whatever deep, dark place it resides and open it up to the light of day. You have no standing to attack Sarah Palin, and I'm not going to take it anymore.
