Luckily, not all Republicans are idiots: Ron Paul says that the GOP had better check itself before it wrecks itself.

I like Ron Paul a lot. He has a few stances I disagree with, but overall I like where he's coming from & wish he would have gone further this election.

Yet for all that, if she was at the same place and same time somewhere with me, and burshed up along side me and said "Take me Bone..."  Well, I'm afraid I would weak and would be weakened by her hot looks and feminine wiles.

vidiot: While McCain bears primary responsibility for the mistake of selecting her, she also is to blame for not admitting to herself and McCain that she wasn't ready.  She just saw it as a grand opportunity for herself without caring about the consequences to her party (if the R's lost) or to the country (if the R's won).

If you offered me a position as Executive Vice President in a Fortune 500 company, I wouldn't take it.  I know I'm not up to that standard (yet) and it would be a great disservice to the company and their customers and shareholders for me to do that.  She should have had similar awareness of herself and the position to decline it, just like Bobby Jindal and others said they wouldn't take it.  VP of this country is not something you should take just because it is a once-in-a-million-lifetimes opportunity.

That is it exactly...she wasn't putting "Country First", she was thinking ONLY of herself. Man, is Alaska such a bad place that she was willing to do anything to get herself the hell outta there? And if you need more proof that she's in it only for herself:
Quote:

The Times of London: "Sarah Palin's failure set to reap her $7m book deal"

She failed to save John McCain from presidential election doom, but Sarah Palin, the Republican senator’s controversial running mate, may yet emerge as the saviour of the American publishing industry. Literary agents are queueing up to sign her to a book deal that could earn her up to $7m.

With Barack Obama's election victory certain to generate dozens of volumes from politicians, strategists and journalists – and with another shelfload of memoirs expected from members of President George W Bush’s administration – Palin's personal account of her tumultuous introduction to national politics is widely regarded as the book most likely to repay a multi-million-dollar advance.

“She’s poised to make a ton of money,” said Howard Rubenstein, New York’s best-known public relations adviser.

“Every publisher and a lot of literary agents have been going after her,” added Jeff Klein of Folio Literary management....

i think the real ultimate failing of this woman is that while she was exactly what a small portion of people were looking for, she was EXACTLY what most people were not looking for.

nevermind passing the blame for her lack of knowledge and suggesting questioning the intelligence of a person seeking office of vp was elitist or even sexist.

the ultimate downfall of sarah palin imo began from her opening stump speech to the people of america where not 5 minutes first went by before we heard "san francisco" and continued through the seething hate and vitriol of the crowds that attended her rallies.  the woman is a divider. she has no percievable political strategy other than devide and conquer.  nothing other than her inferences of a "real" america standing for everything right and good behind the obtuse aloof out of touch, less patriotic america.

i mean this woman is still bringing up that joe the plumber liar, who's in line for a tax cut from obama, in speeches now that the election is done.

out of touch.  completely.  and as much as id love to see her steer republicans into the ditch for the forseeable future i think even they see the writing on the walls these days...

Alaska is amazing.  Some of the people in it, not so much.

Unbelievable! Looks as Ted Steven lost the senate race in Alaska! The news are already calling it for the democratic party, Mark Begich. If Ted Steven wants a recount that he would have to front the money to do that.

We still have 2 more states that haven't officially declare a winner yet.

In the Alaskan senatorial race, we definitely dodged a major bullet. If Ted "the Internet is a series of tubes" Stevens had won, he would have almost immediately censured by his colleagues in the Senate, and then it would have fallen to Sarah Palin to choose his replacement, and she could easily have pulled a Cheney and put herself in the seat.

Let's see if Al Franken can pull a victory out as well.
