Two neighboring headlines from Google today, potentially foretelling the short-term and long-term future regarding the Trump economy:

CNBC
AT&T, Comcast giving $1,000 bonuses to hundreds of thousands of workers after tax bill

(This sudden, hasty, and unusual trickle-down move might be intended to bribe the Trump admin and Justice Dept to permit AT&T's pending merger with Time Warner. Trump feeds on successes and shits favors, so if AT&T can temporarily make his tax bill look like it benefits the middle class...)

(...but then...)

Dallas Morning News
AT&T plans to lay off nearly 300 at center in Dallas next year

The heaping pile of shit that is the GOP tax bill has the Democrats leading by more than 12 points (49.6% to 37.4%) at the time of this writing in the standard "Will you vote for a Democrat or Republican in the next Congressional election?" poll - at least according to the average complied by Five Thirty Eight:

http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/congress-generic-ballot-polls/

CNN's latest poll has the Dems with a 16 point lead, and also finds that Democratic voters are significantly more enthusiastic about voting next November than Republicans.

Five Thirty Eight also notes that such polls are VERY predictive of how the House of Representatives will go in the midterms:

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/heres-the-best-tool-we-have-for-understanding-how-the-midterms-are-shaping-up/

This, if it holds up, should lead to the Dems winning control of the House.

Provided, of course, that Democratic voters actually do get out and vote.

And yes, YOUR VOTE MATTERS.

One of those races for the Virginia state legislature is TIED. Both candidates, even after the recount, got the exact same number of votes.

Quote
Republican Del. David E. Yancey entered Tuesday’s recount with a 10-vote lead over Democrat Shelly Simonds. At the end of the recount, Simonds appeared to have a one-vote lead over Yancey, which would have created a 50-50 split in the House after Democrats flipped 15 other GOP-held seats in a wave election last month.

Republicans indicated Tuesday evening that they wouldn’t challenge the outcome when it went before a three-judge panel for final approval.

But on Wednesday morning, Yancey’s campaign asked the court to accept a ballot that had been tossed aside. The voter had filled in bubbles for both Yancey and Simonds, but had put a slash through the Simonds bubble, which the court interpreted as intent to vote for Yancey. On the same ballot, the voter had made an X on the filled-in bubble beside the name of Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie. The ballot included clear votes for Republicans in the races for attorney general and lieutenant governor.

The additional vote for Yancey meant each candidate finished with 11,608 votes.

The race will be decided by pulling a name out of a hat. Seriously. And as mentioned in the quote, that will determine if the Dems control the legislature or it's evenly divided.

So fer f**k's sake, get the hell out and vote next year, OK?

ridicolous decision:

https://twitter.com/stevenmazie/status/943604904521760769/

If this kind of filling out of a ballot would happen in any other nation, this part of the ballot would be invalid, because any attempt of interpretations what the voter really wanted in that situation is absolute nonsens: https://twitter.com/stevenmazie/status/943604904521760769/

We in Germany do not fill-out completely the circles with pens, we put an X on the field. Is this also common in other US states to put an X instead of filling out the circle?

My concern is the the DNC will think that the Trump and his fellow GOP will be so detestable to vote for that they will put up their shit choice corporate lackey as their best candidate forward!

Case in point: Doug Jones calls himself a moderate-conservative democrats that can work with these backward republican!

I really hope the majority of waiter and waitresses in the US were Trump and GOP voter. At least they now get punished for this by disseize of their tips. Congratulations!

I was a waiter for 20 years and watch the whole industry get hijack by the owners. When I first started back in the 80's we had to pay .83 per hour for tips allocation, then it eventually became 8% of total food sales, then the owners would sneak the take out and add it to our sales, so they wouldn't have to pay for the tip. Then it became about paper trail and you had declare 100% of the food sales on trace credit card. Then places like Applebees, Red lobster, and Denny's would lock the computer out so that only the manager get to declare your tip and they again include the take out sales, and then also the tip they take as part of their share would be totally tax free because you have no choice but pay their share when they lock the computer out. So More restaurant have already been taking your ship share by restructuring how tips are dish out in order to control it. This last move would legitimize it and make it the new normal. The new structure of taking your tip to pay the manager was first introduce by a chain called Mongolian Grill, and how you get your food by passing the traditional waiter coming to your table, in order to get you to pay the tip out differently. These company can now pay their manager a lower wage by using the waiter's tips to offset their salary.

Pretty sick what these companies do. Yes and now the government legalize the stealing from their waiter and waitresses.

In Germany it is unlawful for a company or manager to seize the tipped money from the waiter and waitresses, while it is very common that the employees have an agreement that they put it into a pot and the pot is then shared with kitchen personel etc.

Does Trumpelstilsken actually have a job as president?

Somehow I can't believe that.

He spend 87 days on golf courts since his inauguration. Sorry, but I believe the US peoples should better sue him for wasting the peoples tax money ...

The graphic also shows that republicans are like robber barons.
Even combined the last three presidents of the democrats didn't spend the same time on vacation.

Is there a correlation? The richer a president was before he became a president, the less he is actually used working? The more lazy he is?

wealthy people are lazy?!?!?!

His major change for tax is to cut out Estate tax for his children. So the very wealthy can stay wealthy without having to work. So you may be onto something.

Maybe it is necessary to introduce compulsory labour to the rich.
