A MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor from Marine Squadron VMM-268 landing on Amphibious Landing Dock ship USS John P. Murtha ( LPD-26). The United States remains the only country that mass manufactures this type of aircraft and after some teething problems, the U.S. Marines love the versatility of this aircraft. Can lift and land like a helicopter yet it can fly farther and faster than any helicopter and carry more than most helicopters. Semper Fi, Jarheads !  ;) ;D

The "fact" that 20% of the US interstate highway system was designed to double as airport runways in the case of emergency is ... an urban legend. I have heard the same story told about Switzerland's autobahn but I have yet to confirm it.

Read your article and it was about ALL VTOL ( Vertical Take Off and Landing ) aircraft which includes the AV-8B Harrier, still flown by the US Marine Corps until they get all their F-35B Lightnings 2 replacements, and the Soviet/ Russian Yak-141. The MV-22 remains unique because of its method to achieve VTOL which involves rotating the engines while the others rotate the engine exhaust to achieve VTOL. The advantage of rotating the engine is that you don't have to use space in the fuselage for the ducting of the engine exhaust which means more usable space in the fuselage. That why I stated the US is, as of now, the only one that manufactures in a large scale this type of aircraft.

September 11, 2021, and this is a test to see if the Forum is back up and running.

It is although the "login via chat" workaround needed a bit of tweaking.

Glad you all are still here. Hopefully the rest of the regulars will be able to join as the remaining issues are resolved.

"Cookies and Cream" is basically broken up Oreos in a plain vanilla-ish base, right?

So doesn't that make these Oreo-flavored Oreos?
