You REALLY want to make Luke's eyes bulge?  Have THIS person be the one saying, "Luke, I am your father." to him.   ;)

Rae Ripple is a metal and welding artist who does custom metal art for those who wish to have something unique. She is 36 years old with a 13 year old son and lives in Big Springs, Texas. Her parents were drug addicts and at age 14 she ran away from home. She has a strong work ethic which she did not acquire from her dysfunctional family. She has an eye and flair for art for which is distinctive. She worked at a bakery while still a teenager decorating cakes and she tried to make a business out of it but it did not succeed. She moved on and was fascinated by what she saw at a machine shop and the owner offered her a job and taught her how to weld and to use metal cutting tools for the building trades and soon she became his best metallurgist in the shop. In her off time she would make metal sculptures using junk parts and through word of mouth, she started selling some pieces. She also did engraving. Then a man asked her if she could help him customize a 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe which he had found in a barn that belonged to his grandfather and she proposed to him not only to engrave the vehicle but to give it a unique "personality". He said ok and the photograph shows how she gave it "personality". She now has a thriving business which shows that even if you were raised in very difficult situations, you are not doomed to it if you decide to improve your life.  :)

Today was Memorial Day in the USA and here is the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where 1177 Sailors and Marines are forever entombed. To this day, 80 1/2 years later, she is still leaking oil from her fuel tanks and it is said that the ship is still crying for all of her crew members in her. I was stationed in Pearl Harbor from December of 1979 to February of 1984 and I was living in building 55 of Ford Island which during the attack of December 7, 1941 was an administrative building strafed by the Japanese but when I was there it had been converted to barracks for junior enlisted personnel. It was at the time the site of Headquarters for SUBRON 7 ( Submarine Squadron 7) which the submarine I was stationed at, USS Robert E. Lee (SSBN-601) was based from. The Arizona Memorial was a 10 minute walk from my barracks so I saw it multiple times.
