Today was Memorial Day in the USA and here is the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where 1177 Sailors and Marines are forever entombed. To this day, 80 1/2 years later, she is still leaking oil from her fuel tanks and it is said that the ship is still crying for all of her crew members in her. I was stationed in Pearl Harbor from December of 1979 to February of 1984 and I was living in building 55 of Ford Island which during the attack of December 7, 1941 was an administrative building strafed by the Japanese but when I was there it had been converted to barracks for junior enlisted personnel. It was at the time the site of Headquarters for SUBRON 7 ( Submarine Squadron 7) which the submarine I was stationed at, USS Robert E. Lee (SSBN-601) was based from. The Arizona Memorial was a 10 minute walk from my barracks so I saw it multiple times.
