A historical ship that was built by Howard Hughes supposedly to mine manganese nodules from the sea bottom but was actually used by the CIA to retrieve a Soviet submarine that had sunk about 1600 miles northwest of Hawaii and had been located by the US Navy SOSUS (Sound Surveillance Undersea System), a hydrophone array which allowed the US Navy to monitor the Soviet Submarine force, and this ship had huge claws that went up to 16,000 feet deep and retrieved a 40 foot piece of the Soviet submarine K-129 which had much of the electronic warfare components and intelligence gathering components and also some bodies of the dead personnel. This was on August 8, 1974, or 50 years ago.
