I'm vaguely reminded of one of the exchanges on an early episode of "Family Guy":

Peter: "What's the deal with the Count?"
Brian: "What do you mean?"
Peter: "Is he a vampire, or what?"
Brian: "You're asking if they've ever done a 'Sesame Street' where the Count killed someone and drank their blood?"
Peter: "Yeah."
Brian: "No, they've never done that."

I think some of the parents are over-thinking/over-analyzing how kids respond to Sesame Street; I'm definitely in agreement that there's a tendency to scrutinize the latest generation way too much and react by "sterilizing" any cultural exposure (pop culture or otherwise) they experience.  Honestly, the show is just simple harmless fun that happens to take its cues from stuff the whole family (including the adults) might be familiar with and therefore would enjoy seeing in muppet form...from music videos to TV shows.

Something told me that when Amy & Maya were talking that they'd bring out Katy as their "guest" but I was too slow on the draw to tape the entire sequence, starting from when she heavily bounced on to the set. I was like "WTF??? Where did those come from?" But I did get the remainder of the "Bronx Beat" segment.

It was so incendiary they HAD to release the clip early just to capture some of the torrent (as in rush of water) of views that the Internet was going to get about this unbelievable segment.
