I find it odd that they did not investigate any of the various pregnancy myths during the last year. It would have made for a nice tie-in.
I thought the same thing. As you say, they seemed to want to downplay her pregnancy, owing to the fact she is the ONLY starring woman on the show and any further emphasis on that fact would have been uncomfortable.
From what was (and was not) shown and how they have filmed her I would wager that she/they wanted to downplay the pregnancy. I am glad that mom and babe are doing fine. Kari is needed on that show to slightly offset a male heavy aspects and I like her spunky nature and off-center outlook on things.
Yeah, back in the day they had a girl named "Scotty" but she left the gang for other business opportunities outside of showbiz, so there you go--take it how you want.
* If you go to the Mythbusters website and dig through the "on-line only" video clips you might still find the old Mentos + Diet Pop demo she did in a bikini. Totally done for fan boys and very obviously NOT something she was enjoying. It may have been taken down or changed out for a more tame one.
As was pointed out above, she did an FHM shoot that included Diet Coke and Mentos, and either she really enjoyed it or really faked it well. She doesn't seem like a fake person to me.

Unfortunately as she has become to only woman in front of the camera on the show and given the nature of the fans she may be getting a bit too much attention that just does not sit well with her. There are subtle moments when she has this "why am I here" expression.
I get that vibe too, Nimrod, but I think she realizes she shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, particularly if she enjoys what she's doing, she's getting paid well, and she's learning lots of things along the way. You might consider what she is getting is a paid, public, on-camera education because she's smart, spunky and attractive.
