I just finished the interview. I have NO idea how it went. (I think I spoke too rapidly -- it was a phone interview. It's hard without normal conversational facial cues.) I'll know by late tomorrow if I'm still in the running. The next step would be a writing assignment.

Phew! Thanks to all for your support.

Thanks again to everyone for your support and positive thoughts. I made it through the last round, and now I have a written planning exercise to complete by the end of Tuesday. If I make it through that, I advance to personal interviews.

Thank you again!

I made it through two rounds. But not into the third. Very disappointed.

Thanks, all, for having offered your support. You're all great.

(In a dark corner) I have been sitting here since early last December, I got up and went out to try go do something, in Aug I thought I'd go to school and learn something new, Personal Care Worker. in great demand around where I live, mostly a retirement community, and elsewhere too.  Well the learning part was almost easy.  the reality how ever was that I'd be expected to move about and tend to more than 8 clients a day. thought It be 2 or 3.  My psyche was to disturbed by the thought of so much change up. different clients, different needs.  So I bailed out of the course.
Came back here to the lounge for a bit longer.  However I did go out and tried going back to a place I worked at before.
they remembered me and said I could come back. (they have a hi turnover rate.)
So it back to the grind on the 27th.

If its possible try someplace you tried before, and see if anything has changed.

I definitely need to use what I've read in this thread for the job search I'm currently undergoing.

Any updates,Robin_K?

Thanks for asking. I'm getting more interviews but no offers. I continue to look.

It's definitely educational. For one job, which I really, really wanted, 90 professionals applied from across the country. It went to a former intern of the organization who had graduated eight months before. Her last job was "pet sitter."

Then there was the hi-tech start-up that wanted to hire me, but they ran out of money because they moved from an industrial park to the highest rent district in the city. (There's this strange geek-macho thing out there, exhibited by techies in their early 20s; I find it arrogant.)

I continue to freelance, but it does sometimes get me down. According to the paper, my city is approaching 20 percent unemployment. I don't know if I believe that, but there are the very rich here, and then there are the rest of us. I'd leave, but I have too much debt to relocate. (No car, no smart phone, no cable, only dial-up internet; I live as cheap  as I can!)

Surely there are other job-seekers here. How are you doing?

I got a job back in late November. Freelancing, which is good since I'm a writer by trade.
