Thus one’s a little more goth than steampunk, but close enough.

I had forgotten this, the last book of 007 James Bond creator was, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I submit to you all that this may well have been the start of the SteamPunk genre.

The car aside from looking damn cool, was also a hovercraft, and a flying car.  It does have all the late Victorian vibes to it.

To screw with your brain however, Imagine if you dare, Sean Connery, doing the song.

For those of you not familiar with the car here is the only one I could find with no small humans.

You just brought back some very fond memories from my youth. I loved that movie as a k1d and there were other movies like " Those Intrepid Men in Their Flying Machines " whose songs to this day are deeply imprinted into my mind. Right now I have " Chitty Chitty Bang Bang " song rattling around in my head and Dick Van Dyke singing it. The prior year he had done " Mary Poppins " and he was a huge star then. I also liked The Dick Van Dike show ( Oh, Rob ) on TV in glorious black and white.  :)

For a little bit of added trivia, the current owner of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is Peter Jackson, the "Lord Of The Rings" director.  One of the extras in the "The Hobbit" DVDs show him driving up to the studio in it.   :)
