Marilyn Monroe, Norma Jeane Mortenson, born June 1, 1926, died August 4, 1962 at age 36.

And the first Playboy centerfold. 
Yeah, but she did not pose for Playboy. In 1949 she posed for a pinup photographer to get money for a car payment. At the time she signed the release using yet another pseudonym. The photographer later sold the pictures, and some were first published as part of a pin-up calendar called "Golden Dreams". Later Hef used one photo from that set on the cover of the very first issue of Playboy, published in Dec of 53. (I'm unsure, if that first Playboy issue even featured a centerfold model. Interestingly, the Jan 1954 issue also had another fifties icon, Bettie Page as the centerfold, and a favorite of mine.
