my apologies if I sounded too snarky, it wasn't aimed at you  Zeo as much as the collective complaints for both Ashley and most recently LDM.

I did understand your point, and there is certainly merit to it, but I just wonder why we waste our breath complaining or psycho analyzing when it's really none of our biz. I keep coming back to these gals being people and not abstract points of contention.

That's all, again sorry if I made anyone plotz with my wise ass attitude.

I think another picture would be appropriate here.  Here's a slightly higher-res and script-free version of that red lingerie shot posted earlier - I hope no one minds!

It is our biz, because she is a public figure who has announced her contemplation of the surgery, we the public collectively pay her salary in the form of the products we buy and web sites we view, and this surgery affects where and how and if we will ever see her again.  It's no different than fans discussing a football player who is contemplating a back surgery which could be career-changing or career-ending.

We can take this discussion off topic, but I would argue that we don't have the right to complain about the football guy in your hypo either. If I was a player thinking about my personal health, disgruntled fans would matter zero in my my decision.

All you can do is vote with your pocket book which I think would mean squat in either instance.

I don't expect to affect her decision, and even if I could change her decision one way or the other I wouldn't.  She will make her decision without our input.  That doesn't mean we have to be silent about the implications of her decision. Similarly, someday before world ends Brett Favre will also make his decision to retire without our input, but that doesn't mean the media and the public can't or shouldn't discuss the implications of if and when he retires or plays another season.

I don't see a conflict.  What is a better way to prove wrong those who say something isn't right with your appearance/body but by making money as model?

I don't get what you are saying. If she is trying to "prove people wrong" by having potentially dangerous and life altering elective surgery - I suggest she get her priorities in order. I think she's doing it because she believes it will open up more opportunities in modeling for her. I do believe that the mainstream modeling world prefers smaller chest women, but it also prefers taller ones and she is short.

The football player analogy doesn't quite work, because they usually either are forced into surgery by an injury and they have to choose between playing at all or retiring. This woman is being forced to have any kind of surgery and she is currently playing "the game."

I am not saying anything about her in particular because I don't know her and there is one statement to work from. As a business decision I will never understand people who go the surgery route of any sort for that reason. I don't think it is, because those tattoos are far more of a problem business wise.

Now that is out of the way, I don't see it being conflicting as the person I was replying to did. Anyway my point is that a person can react in more than one way to being told that their body is 'wrong'. One extreme is to show up those people, the other is to 'fix' it. The same person can react one way at one time and another at different time.

I didn't comment on that at all. But I agree. Athlete surgery is corrective, to restore function.

I figure you left out the "not".

My point really wasn't about the surgery per se, it's about the public consequences of a career-changing or career-ending decision (so I brought up Brett Favre and his "retirement" instead). If she gets the surgery, or more large tattoos, or some other long-lasting change to her appearance, it's going to change or end her modeling career, and affect where and if we see her again.
