I am not questioning the spelling, I had to look it up to see what it means , and see if I get the joke, which I sadly failed at.

Sorry, 3d. I've read it used (by the late Harry Golden) to mean a small edible, especially a spread, as on a bagel. I believe he used it that way in the book For Two Cents Plain.

EDIT: And, as 3d and I have discussed privately, a very close relative of mine was born profoundly Deaf. I get a kick when I see 3d "writing in ASL". One of the characteristics of being a hearing member of a group with Deaf in it is that we all start "talking ASL" as in, "Store go I future."

It is interesting that the first usage of the word was recorded in 1970, which is fairly young for a Yiddish word, and yet that book was written in 1958, however he wrote many books all the way to 1980. I take it he is an expert on Jewish-American humor, and perhaps to be the one who first use the word in text. So many great comics with Jewish-American humor, that I wonder if John Stewart was a fan of Harry. I am still trying to keep up with many of the Yiddish slang. I used the word Kaboodle, as in the whole kaboodle at subway.

I think that is why word fascinate me so much, because of the power, and my early lesson was basically visual. If I wanted a glass of milk I point at kitty dish, cupboard, and refrigerator. dish, glass, and milk. Then when I got my hearing aid, and realize that people were talking, I focus on object before structure of grammar. Just did so, at a very late part of the language development stage.

but in all honesty has there ever been any study done with X number of people in the news are catholic, muslim, jew ect? to say that jews "own" the media is a bit silly, there are a considerable number in film that come to mind, but what do we consider "jewish"? are we doing the nazi thing and going down the bloodline even those today arent even practicing or have converted? even if it were true who cares? but if youre going to make crazy statements better have the data to back it up...
