October 1, 2023: President James Earl "Jimmy" Carter Jr., turned 99 years old.

He is the oldest living former President of the United States.

He has lived longer post-presidency than any other former POTUS, currently 43 years since he last left the Oval Office.

As of today, he is 99 years and five days old, making him the 3rd-oldest living person to have served as a nation's leader. Only ex-Prime Minister of Japan Tomiichi Murayama (99 years, 217 days) and ex-Prime Minister of Laos Khamtai Siphandone (99 years, 270 days) are older.

He is also the former President with the longest-surviving marriage: he and his wife Rosalynn celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary on July 7, 2023.

A good and decent human being, who arguably has done even more good post-POTUS than he was allowed to do in the office.

As he enters his twilight years, I wish him Godspeed.

I liked him when he was president - even more now.  They go on about Biden's age, and yet here is Jimmy Carter at 99!

He was the worst President in my lifetime. I remember when Inflation hit 18%, home loans were at 22%, gas prices hit one Dollar a gallon which was amazing at the time, we suffered the humiliation of our Embassy in Tehran being taken over and ever since our embassies are not safe and the hostage crisis for over a year, yes, the Shah of Iran was a son of a bitch, but he was/is still better than the Radical clerics in charge now, I was in the Navy at the time and with his budgets, he sank more ships than the Japanese did in World War 2, he ceded the Panama Canal and the USA got nothing in return and now the Communist Chinese are bribing the Panamanians to close it to the USA. I find it hard that he was a Naval Academy graduate, yet he did so much damage to the USA. may he burn in Hell when he dies.

That's a very incorrect and ahistorical assessment of the man, and of his presidency. It would be more fitting for his successor though.
