Yup! The Golden Rule! ("He who has all the gold, makes the rules.")

Just in case you were wondering, Scientific American has the answer to the question "just how do you ID a dead Osama anyway?" (Hint: the same way they do it on CSI: Miami but without the hot chicks)

I want to see the long form of his death certificate, to see if that will be photoshop in layers as well!

OMG, really...? That certificate was scanned, and the layers weren't flattened before it was released. If you're familiar with illustrator, you would know this. However, if you need some kind of explanation:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcWQw2AAIho

Now that that's out of the way  ::) .  Regardless of what we all think this will or will not resolve, the fact of the matter is, that there are thousands upon thousands of victims and family members of those victims who can **82** a little better knowing that justice was finally served.

I'm not sure I understand why some would question the burial at sea. What were we supposed to do with his body? Give it back to his family?  ???

They locate him in Pakistan, and then sent US forces in to get him.

So wasn't this announcement last night on the Prez's checklist of things he said he would do if given the opportunity while on the '08 campaign trail? :-\

----

Perhaps some of you may have noted as I that of late the latest Repub political taking point whenever any one of them has a camera shoved in their face it to hammer over and over how President Obama isn't leading the country. So now I'm left wondering if this coup by the Obama administration will shut them all up (and if so, for how long) over the Prez's leadership, or lack there of? ::)

BTW my opinion is the Pres is leading the country fine, he's just not willing to lead it where the Tea Bagger Repubs (and their enablers) want to go. Makes him seem like the one adult, while they all behave like a bunch of obstinate little kids digging in their heels. "WAH! WAH! WAH! I won't go! You can't make me go! I won't do it!" >:(

Where is that kicking in the door picture from? I can't stop giggling over it!

My favorite from those tweets was "This weekend is straight out of Shakespeare, bookeneded with a royal wedding and the death of a tyrant." That or the one pointing out that it wasn't drones. Meaning that somewhere out there, someone just KILLED BIN LADEN. Oh god, he is never going to run out of pussy.

As for the situation, pathetic that he was essentially in plain view. I do agree that this is going to raise issues, you killed a major leader, does anyone think his followers will just kneel down and surrender? Of course not! On the other hand, this is a huge deal for America. It might cause more problems but bringing down a nationally loathed figure like OBL is going to help morale, which I really do think we need.

When 9/11 happened, I was about 15. It bothered me and was a giant deal, but for some reason, never fully resonated with me. Today, the morning radio show played a bunch of reports from that morning and it gave me goosebumps. It's nice to have some form of (superficial) closure, no matter how temporary.

Um, no. I believe it was the real thing. Illustrator creates the layers once something has been scanned. There's nothing false and phony about it. Whoever released it didn't correct the auto function of illustrator prior to its release. Pac is much more well versed in these things than I am, but that's how I understand those "layers" happened. I believe the document was doctored about as much as I believe Bush got Bin Laden, and froze him for 2 years, only to hand Obama the victory for it.

There is a philosophy when handling legal matter and that is to keep yourself honest. In other word handle things to present yourself in a manner to leave yourself with no doubt. Doing a enhance scan with OCR was not the best idea in handling a legal paper. You certainly wouldn't get away with doing a OCR of the constitution and call it the legal copy? you either have a photo copy of the document or a rewritten copy of the content of the document. With lawyers you couldn't use the latter for legal binding contract. Most people would regard a photocopy of your birth certificate as legal proof and not the latter of a rewritten content of the document. Having a authorize Signature on a separate layer of the document will not hold in court as a legal verification of the document. It would require another notarize signature for it, verifying that document.

OCR scan rewrite is no longer a photocopy of the original, it is now doctored! You dig?

His body should've been hung by a noose from a flagpole in New York, like a rotting pinata, until all of the pieces had fallen off.  Then those should've been collected and fed to some pigs.  No afterlife for him.....

Some thoughts:

1. BOO-YAH! Our national honor has been restored! I'm uneasy with the 'Freedom isn't free' slogan that gets blathered around whenever people want to justify the war in Afghanistan. It was never about our freedom; Al-Qaeda and the Taliban were never a threat to take over even an acre of American soil. It was all about Honor. We were attacked without warning; without provocation. Honor demanded that we find the party responsible and deliver a just and proper response. But 'Honor' seems to have fallen by the wayside as an archaic concept. That saddens me. Anyway, HOO-AH!

2. He had to be buried at sea, so no one could make a shrine out of his resting place. It was done quickly, in line with Islamic tradition - though for them, burial at sea is acceptable only in rare circumstances. Seems no country wanted to deal with the body, so there was no other choice given the time requirements. With regards to doing the burial in line with Islamic tradition, I do not see a problem. There's no need to piss his followers off any more than necessary. Look, he was dead. Our troops killed him. There's no reason, ever, to mutilate a body or humiliate a corpse. No matter how nasty the person was in life. It serves no purpose whatsoever.

3. The George Bush fans are saying it was all thanks to his groundwork back in the early days of 2001-2002. Well, OK, I'll give him a little credit.

4. I hear (from Rush Limbaugh!) that the idea to send in Special Forces was solely President Obama's. The military wanted to use drones, missiles, and other "death by remote" methods. Obama didn't want to risk civilian casualties and collateral damage. Good for him!

5. I also understand that the operation was a magnificent coordination of our military. Intelligence assets of all sorts located him, Army helicopters brought the Navy SEALS in and out, and everything worked perfectly.

6. Is this the end of Al-Queda? Probably not. But they aren't going to be much of a threat anymore.

7. Uhh... What about Pakistan? Did they help up find him? Did they assist in any way? What the heck was he doing in such an open location? This is seriously going to complicate the international politics.

8. And speaking of international politics, did we just approve assassination as a political tool?

In short, I'm glad we got him. But I'm a bit apprehensive about what happens next.
