Well I got some bad news with some  good news attached last week.  After being biopsied every year for 5 years straight they finally found a very small not very aggressive cancer in my prostate. My Urologist wants to monitior it closely but take no action at this time as he says it could be several years before this starts to take off and grow. The treatments for a small well contained prostate tumor like this are many and changing all the time.   Im having a 2nd opnion next month .  I almost glad they found something as was no fun getting stabbed every year...   Good news is they are very curable when found this early..

It ain't no fun getting proded but good they found it. Funny how prostate cancer hits men as often as breast cancer hits women and fatality rates are similar but its kept relatively quiet. I've never seen a " Race for the cure " for prostate cancer like you do for breast cancer. Not saying its unfair or bad, just that people react so different. It is a very slow cancer and catching it early gives you a lot of options. Stage 1 is so much easier than stage 4, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing, BTW.

Prinz, after hearing about your annual biopsies, I feel like a real whiner for complaining about my doc sticking her finger in. Too bad I wasn't young enough to learn to enjoy pegging.

Been told by two diffrent Uroligist that we should test and monitor this ever 6 months and thats it... Its so small and non- agressive that it my not be a problem for me in my lifetime...  If it starts to take off we can remove before it loses containment with excellent outcome.. I may still opt to have it removed later this year via the de vinci robot as the results are becoming quite good with this machine...  One or these guys has done over 600 prostate removals vie the robot with  high percentage of good results..  Said he understands that some men just cant stand to have this in them as a potential problem and would be happy to remove it for me but still recomends watchful waiting as they call it in my case... Sigh...  So its up to me...

My Dad lived with it for 23 years, and finally died from congestive heart failure at 93.
