When I saw that 1971 Buick Riviera that Shadowmuse posted earlier, it reminded me of a car I wanted but I'll never afford, a 1967 Chevy Corvette with a big block 427 cubic inch with a six-pack carburetor and 450 horsepower engine. It was the last of the second-generation Corvettes before they went with the "Mako Shark" body of the third generation Corvette of 1968. Notice the similarity of the back window with that 1971 Buick.

Saw this on the Epoch Times and the article stated that 82 year old Ernie Adams from Arizona has been building dwarf cars for the past 50+ years using parts from air compressors, air conditioners, anything that can be used from junkyards, and he machines and modifies the parts in order to make workable cars and he uses the actual blueprints from the manufacturers and scales them down to 1/2 scale. This is a 1940 Ford.

Wow, that’s crazy.  Amazing work.  Wonder what he does with them.  It’s not like you can drive them.  Or has he engineered it so he can fit inside?  Tight fit, if so!

It looks like he's been forced to use full size tires, as well.  Since they pretty well fill up the wheel well, I don't know how capable it is of being steered.  But dang, that's a bang up job otherwise, especially considering what he's using to build them!

One of those awesome cars that make you think the designers of the day basically took a look at the covers of current sci-fi mags, and said "Man, that looks great!  Let's slap some wheels on that and get it on the road!".

One of those awesome cars that make you think the designers of the day basically took a look at the covers of current sci-fi mags, and said "Man, that looks great!  Let's slap some wheels on that and get it on the road!".   

Back in those days automobile companies didn't have to meet or follow government rules, regulations or mileage requirements and were free to design cars as they saw fit. They also were also inspired by the aerospace industry of the time with their styling cues which is why some of their looks are what they are. Before World War 2, Cadillacs did not have tail fins. After the war. many of the engineers and designers had served in the armed forces or worked for the war industries and the postwar Cadillacs got the tail fins because it reminded them of the Lockheed P-38 Lightning tail rudders. Also, if you look at many of the styling of the bumpers, taillights and other accruements, they look like torpedoes, missiles and other military gear.

This 1957 Ford Thunderbird reminds me of the scene in Steven Spilger's movie, American Graffiti, where Suzanne Somers flirts with Harrison Ford on a street intersection stop light. Beautiful car.

Not only did I misspelled his name, but wrong movie. Sometimes they both merge together in my mind since they have collaborated in so many movies. I sometimes suffer from old timers.

I love this.  The differences between a 1941 Caddy and 1947.  Really only a model year or two difference between the two as no one built cars throughout World War II—well, besides Jeeps, I mean.

This is a car I really wanted to get in the early 80s, one of the few Detroit tanks I liked from 70s, at the time.  These days I appreciate most of those colossal blocks of metal, which are no match for the design wonders of the 50s and 60s, but still have their own nostalgic look.

Before I bought my 1968 Impala back in 1974, I saw a white Pontiac GTO like this one that I wanted to buy. I remember I deposited $100 at the dealership I saw it in Houston, which was Gay Chevrolet (in those days, Gay was a last name and it also meant happy, flighty and NOT homosexual) to hold it for me because they wanted $1800 for it and so I had to go back to the bank to see if I had enough money to get it. Well, I returned to the dealership, and it was gone because somebody else paid cash for it and drove it away. I got my $100 back but I was very disappointed. It had a 400 cubic inch V8 engine and a light brown interior. It was a muscle car. It was back in 1963 when Pontiac created the first Muscle Car when they took a family sedan and put a huge engine in it and changed the name to GTO.
