Back in 1968, during the 1968 Olympic games in Mexico City, a cousin of my mother that lived near Abilene, Texas, in the little town of Merkel, whose land was part of an oil field, and he was paid quite a lot of royalties by Esso, now Exxon, drove to visit us with his wife and three kids because he wanted to go with us to the Olympic stadium near the Universidad de Mexico because my father had tickets and it just so happen that day I witnessed when Bob Beamon won the Gold medal for the long jump at 8 meters, 33 centimeters (27 feet, 3 3/4 inches), a record that wasn't broken until 1991. He almost jumped past the sand pit of the event. The car my mother's cousin, Uncle Tally, he had was the biggest car I'd ever seen up till then, a 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and I remember riding in the back seat with his kids and it was so huge we all fit fine. It was black like this one.
