I can't believe that Tom Brady isn't jail for his part in "Deflategate". That may sound like hyperbole, but think about it. He's admitted that he destroyed evidence (the cellphone containing the text messages).

As far as I'm concerned, the Cheatriots should give back all their Super Bowl rings, since they are all suspect.

A four-game suspension is starting to look like a slap on the wrist.

I think it's overkill.

The Dallas Cowboy's defensive lineman Greg Hardy was suspended for four games, too. His offense?

"According to the judge's ruling, Hardy beat Nicole Holder in his Charlotte apartment and then called 911 in an attempt to cover up what he had done. Holder testified that Hardy threw her in a bathtub, dragged her around his apartment by her hair, ripped off a necklace she was wearing and tossed her onto a futon that was covered with rifles, the Charlotte Observer reported."

That's two counts of domestic abuse, which could have carried a 60 day jail sentence (Hardy is appealing the verdict).

I think destroying a cell phone is much less offensive than that.

Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow...

You don't think he's the only QB to do that, do you?

I don't know. I do know that over the past 20 years the Patriots have led in every form of cheating.

2015 NFL season
« Reply #7 on: September 13, 2015, 11:04:14 PM »
Well, the 2015 NFL season has started and we've already had a major upset when the Rams beat the Seahawks in overtime 34 - 31. The bookies here in Vegas have sent a large bouquet of flowers thanking the Seahawks for making their first week very profitable. My Cowboys beat the Giants in thrilling fashion 27 - 26 Sunday night. If you see the statistics the Cowboys should have crushed them but turnovers made the game much closer that it should have been. Nevertheless, a win is a win. The other games were not so dramatic and essentially they turned out the way they were supposed to be. Yup, Football is back. Yay !!  :) ;D

Actually, the Rams-Seahawks result isn't a surprise. Each year that the Osprey have made it to the Superbowl, they have first lost to the Rams.

So the Buffalo Bills impressed me with their opening win over the Indianapolis Colts.
If they can beat the Patriots on Sep 20, they will need to be declared the real deal.  Kudos to Buddy Ryan's son Rex.

I, meanwhile, prepare my year of suffering watching my hometown Browns.  Starting off 0-1, I am not sure what there is to look forward to, but they are so unpredictable that there might be a ghost of a chance of going at least 8-8.

It is my opinion, and I'm sure people will disagree with me which I respect, that Manziel, AKA,  " Johnny Football ", entered the NFL too soon which in the long run could be detrimental to his career. He should have stayed at Texas A&M at least two more years and gotten more experience and seasoning. I know the money the Browns threw at him was too much to pass up but he has a good chance of ending up as another RG III of Washington which is a bloody shame. As a Cowboy fan I find the Redskins travails very amusing but in a sports and human way I find it sad. Way back in the 60's, when I was a young lad just getting into this Football stuff, The Cowboys used to play the Browns every year ( before the NFL and AFL merged ) and some of the most fun games were played at the old mud bog ... er ...Memorial stadium in Cleveland. I remember once Dallas beat the Browns there 3 - 0 in withering rain which immediately turned the playing field useless for any kind of offence and Dallas won on a recovered fumble. The kick barely got through even though it was a 30 yard kick.  Those were the days before astroturf , Houston had the only domed stadium, the Astrodome, and Quarterbacks were sacked head first onto the topsoil. Or like Jack Lambert of the Steelers said it best when they started to protect the Quarterbacks, " What ? Are they going to put Tu - Tus on them next ? "   ;D  Nope, he was not PC by any means.

Well, week two has gone by and the biggest news, according to the NFL.com site, is how  will the Cowboys win any games without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant on the playing field. Dallas beat a Eagle team that supposedly was much better but it was a pyrrhic victory. I guess unless Romo's replacement truly excels, the Cowboys will be lucky to be 8 - 8 this season.  :'( The Seahawks have been disappointing and if they are not careful the Cardinals will walk away with their division. San Francisco was truly trashed by Pittsburg who were themselves trashed by New England the prior week. It don't look good for the 'Niners. Oakland beat Baltimore. If you're a Ravens fan, that's kinda gruesome. New Orleans does not look like a contender anymore. Yes, I know, the season is young but sometimes the start of the season can give you a strong clue of how things can go for a team. Seems like my team is snake bitten so far.  :(

Well, this thread was/is as popular as a skunk at a party but we now have the two teams that will play in Super Bowl L, the Broncos  and the Panthers. The Panthers - Cardinal game was a rout, 49 - 15 and the Broncos - Patriots was a good defensive game, 20 -18, where Brady didn't do so well. This is the 8th Super Bowl that the Denver Broncos will attend tying the NFL record of the Dallas Cowboys for most Super Bowl appearances. My fearless guess : Panthers. Why ? Well, why not ?  ;D
