Highly recommended to see, especially on the big silver screen because the effects are jaw dropping and can only be appreciated fully in the theater format. As a spoiler, you should be familiar with all of the prior Spiderman movies of the last 20+ years to fully enjoy it also. My $0.02.

Lately much of the Spiderman movie has a reference to the word "Home" so I'm waiting for them to make the next sequel "Spiderman, Home Alone", and I think he would make a great sticky bandit!

I had a feeling Spider-Man: No Way Home would do well at the box office, but even I had no idea it would do this well.

It made $260 million over the weekend in the United States, and just over half a billion US dollars internationally. This not makes it the most successful opening of any movie in the pandemic era, it's also the second-best opening weekend in movie history. The top 3 opening weekends at the US box office are:

1. US$357.1 million - Avengers: Endgame (2019)
2. US$260 million - Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
3. US$257.6 million - Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

"Spider-Man: No Way Home — the latest movie in the Marvel franchise — crossed $1 billion at the global box office, the film's studio Sony (SNE) said on Sunday.

The film reached the milestone just 12 days after it was released. Only 2019's Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War reached that mark in less time, at 5 days and 11 days, respectively.

The film has made $1.05 billion worldwide so far.

Spider-Man: No Way Home — which stars Tom Holland and Zendaya as Peter Parker and MJ as they battle villains from across the Marvel multiverse — is also the only film of the pandemic era to make $1 billion worldwide.

It is the first film to reach $1 billion since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which was released in December 2019. Sony also said that Spider-Man: No Way Home is now the top grossing film of the year worldwide.

The film — which was made by Sony and Disney's Marvel Studios — has had an amazing run at the box office, especially since the world is still in the midst of a pandemic.

Spider-Man: No Way Home notched a record-breaking opening weekend at the North American box office last weekend when it brought in $260 million. That was the second largest domestic opening of all time. That opening was also the best ever for each of the month of December, the Spider-Man franchise and Sony Pictures.

'What this represents is quite mind-boggling,' Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore (SCOR), told CNN Business. 'These numbers would be very impressive in the pre-pandemic era, but for Spider-Man: No Way Home to sprint to a billion dollars in this marketplace is really hard to wrap your mind around. The monumental achievement of Spider-Man: No Way Home hitting this number cannot be overstated for this industry right now,' he added."

Deadline, Dec. 29: ”Spider-Man: No Way Home Now Top Hollywood Title Of 2021 Overseas With $645M, Global Climbs To $1.16B”

Spider-Man: No Way Home on Tuesday officially became Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office with $1.16B. This surpasses the global total of its predecessor, 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, which finaled at $1.13B. The split on the Tom Holland/Zendaya/Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer through Tuesday is $516.4M domestic and $644.9M at the international box office.

Overseas, the film added $28.4M on Tuesday, a scant 5.6% drop from Monday’s $30.1M.

Already becoming the No. 1 movie of 2021 worldwide as it swung past $1B last weekend, Spider-Man: No Way Home is now the No. 1 title of the year overseas for all Hollywood releases, overtaking No Time To Die. Currently ahead of No Way Home are a trio of Chinese movies before Peter Parker can claim the overall No. 1 spot.

Here’s what’s extra amazing about this Jon Watts-directed installment’s rapid ascension: No Way Home fully overtook Far From Home’s worldwide total in just 14 days — doing so without China. That market had contributed about $200M to Far From Home in 2019. No Way Home is not currently dated in China.

Of course, what’s more, we are still in a pandemic, during a period that has seen re-closures and increased restrictions in some offshore markets; but the friendly neighborhood webslinger is further proof that theatrical can still thrive.

No Way Home has plenty of legroom ahead — and Japan to come in January.

The Top 10 international box office markets through Tuesday are the UK ($76.6M), Mexico ($57.9M), Korea ($43.2M), France ($42.1M), Australia ($35.9M), Brazil ($35.6M), India ($30.9M), Russia ($30.1M), Germany ($23.2M) and Italy ($21M).

The next five are Spain ($18.5M), Hong Kong ($14.1M), Taiwan ($13.2M), Argentina ($12M) and Malaysia ($10.8M).

To all the cynics out there who believe that the pandemic and streaming have annihilated theatrical moviegoing, well, Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home just beat the final $515.2M domestic total of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with $516.4M. With $1.16 billion worldwide, No Way Home is officially Sony’s top-grossing movie ever, unseating 2019’s Spider-Man: Far from Home‘s $1.13 billion final global total.

Internationally, the film grossed $28.4 million on Tuesday, bringing its cume to $644.9M.

Rise of Skywalker was one of the last pre-pandemic tentpoles (yes, along with Sonic the Hedgehog, 1917 and Bad Boys for Life) before movie theaters shut down due to Covid. Spider-Man: No Way Home accomplished this feat in 12 days stateside, whereas it took Rise of Skywalker 91 days. No Way Home is also the highest-domestic-grossing film ever for Sony, No. 14 on the all-time list at the domestic box office, and the No. 5 MCU title of all time stateside.

Sony reports No Way Home‘s Tuesday at a $21.3M, -14% from the studio’s reported Monday of $24.75M. Among the second Tuesdays for big Christmas movies, No Way Home ranks fourth behind 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($29.5M), 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($27.7M) and 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ($22.5M).
