Three years and a month since Palomine disappeared
« on: April 24, 2019, 04:31:19 PM »
This is just so that nobody forgets him. Never knew him in person but even through a forum I had an idea of how special he was. Hope he's doing well and would appreciate any news about him.

Definitely miss the guy.  I know everyone needs a break/sabbatical now & then but this has been a long time and especially more noticeable since he used to post 10+ messages/day.

I do hope he is doing ok. I would be saddened to hear otherwise. I don't suppose anyone else here knows him outside of this place and can let us know without intruding on anything private?

Yeah I hope he is ok too.  I thought he was a great contributor.

He did let slip a few personal details over the time he was on here - which is hard not too with the amount of posts Pal did.

I think due to the length of time he has not been here - we must fear the worst.

I have not kept up on things, but if there were ever such a thing as a "boss" of the forum, it was Palomine. I felt the same way about Gonzo, after Pal departed.

These days I check back very infrequently. Who is/are our current active mods?

Eh, while I tend to agree with your general sentiment re: @Palomine, it's still a little fucked up for you to be out here, posting his government, without his consent.

Over the years that I was a forum member and Palomine was around, I had the pleasure of several conversations with him and got to know him a bit. We agreed on various standpoints. I found him to be a pretty cool person.  He didn't reveal much in the way of actual identity to me, but we spoke of and agreed on philosophical levels.

I remember, however, that in some post (I can't remember specifically where), not very long before he vanished, he referred to some upcoming and inexorable event that would affect him in some serious way.  The fact that he ultimately disappeared as an active forum moderator makes me believe he is gone.

I feel that I had lost a friend.  I miss him.

Very similar experience on this side too. I do have fond memories of some late night chats, now many years ago with Pal. Yes, Kithara and I did have some chats with him and some clues/hints or whatever were shared. I am not going to turn this into some mystery (even with the odd e-mail Kith and I got, which I shared here at BEA a while back) nor do I know EXACTLY what happened. Suffice to say that there are actually enough "indicators" sprinkled through his extensive posts to draw a rather sound conclusion.

Yes, Kith and I will respect what was asked of us and simply smile knowing that we had a chance to know such a cool fellow here at the BEA for all those years.

The odd mysterious coordinates that came to Kith and me in an e-mail right around the time Palomine disappeared lead down a rabbit hole of the now defunct Google Earth photo layer. At that point I thought my avenues of research were exhausted. In one final curious weekend a while back I investigated along some different lines and lucked out. I feel I needed to confirm everything...

It occurred to me that the photo I discovered which strongly implied it was Palomine was taken by someone else. A curvaceous woman in a white swimsuit reflected in his sunglasses. I had a location, a woman taking photos, and an approximate time the photo was taken. It took a little while but I soon found images of similar structures around the pool and the pool itself by other users on-line.

And then I stumbled upon a nearly identical image of "Palomine" that had been on the removed Google layer!
(This was not the same photo, but one taken moments or seconds before/after the one now removed)
The specific coordinates were near the pool, but not the pool itself. This spot provided a cluster of images.

From there it was easy to locate the photographer's collection of photos in a different hosting service. In moments I confirmed that it was the woman reflected in Palomine's sun glasses. What followed was a long review of her extensive collection of photos. I eventually was able to reconstruct her relationship with the fellow pictured. In the end, my searching through the collection revealed three key photos:

1) A photo showing similar plates and table to those shown in some of Palomine's cooking photos.
2) A photo taken at a totally different time had another set of reflective glasses (shown here)
3) A photo that Palomine sent just to Kithara and Me many years ago.

In addition to these confirming photos I found one of the woman in an outfit that is very similar to one that Palomine posted showing just her torso and lower body. I have blurred the face here.
All these together confirm what I already suspected.

I'll raise a glass the next time we grill out old man.

I miss Mr. Palomine too.  :'(
We had some fun chats late
at night a few years ago and
he was a smart gentleman
who liked to cook.  ;D

That is always a plus in my book!

I didn't know he was MIA. This is some rough news to come back to. Here's to hoping he went off to live as a nomad among a secluded village with large chested ladies.
100% real woman, with notarized documents and witnesses to back this claim up.
