This is all very interesting. After reading up to this point I really am amazed that "Chelsea Charms" not only came to the BEA Forum and requested that her massive thread be removed, but that it was actually done.
Think about this for a second. Let us say that CC is called User X and User X has a popular thread where hundreds of other Users have posted and participated over many years. User X has some of their own stuff in the thread. Then after, say 20 years, User X suddenly asks that the thread be removed along with any other content.
Now, when has this ever been done here? (I know, the question is rhetorical)
If this is about her images, one must be a member of the BEA with a login to add photos and by doing so we are all bound by the same rules of the site. User X has no additional rights here than any other User. In order to even see the images one must login, again making then a User bound to the same rules. User X has no special claim to the content that they or anyone else has posted here.
So, how is it that User X can have an entire massive decades long thread removed?
There is even text to this very point in the rules of the site.
A User can not expect to request or expect the removal of content they have posted after they have done so. They contribute to the forum of their own free will. At most I have see this done on a post-by-post basis due to some transgression by the User themselves.
The only thing I wonder is what actually happened to prompt the removal of the massive thread.
I lament the loss of the information, the history, and especially something so central to the nature of the site. If the removal was simply because User X contacted the forum keepers and asked that it be removed, and they did, then I am shocked because User X was given a great privileged service.
My opinion is that legal action was threatened, which appears to be the only thing that motivates Forum change around here.
I am waiting for the addition of yet another "restricted content" note to appear in the Forum rules; that no discussion, naming, images, or related content from User X may be posted to the BEA Forum. It is just a matter of time I fear. Forgetting that at one time there were literally megabytes of content and decades of discussion.
Since I have never been a fan of her and don't really care about that thread I am not too torn up about it specifically. However, the fact that the removal was even done, the extent, and the disregard to other User content within that thread is what pings on my circuits.
This is also why I have always told Users to save out what they find interesting here at the BEA or conversely, to post about what interests them with direct uploads to the Forum. So, until User X gets added to the forbidden content list, I say post away on anything and everything allowed.
It is about participation, not exclusion that has made the BEA so unique over the years.
