I finally kicked my sugar habit
« on: October 18, 2009, 11:30:10 PM »
At least I think so.  I first mentioned it here 6 months ago, and now after a lot of failed attempts, I think I finally did it.  45th time's the charm!  I have headaches and I'm always tired.  I should probably start eating healthy now, but everytime I mix ingredients together I always think I should add a cup or 2 of sugar.  Anyone got any recipes?

Man I really could go for a Pepsi right now.....

Congrats!  I will have to read your other thread to get all the details.

I will always have a sweet tooth, so one way or another I always will need to taste something sweet.  I hold out the hope that one day the perfect artificial sweetener will be developed.  Unfortunately, despite claims by Sucralose/Splenda/Stevia , the best one out there is still Nutrasweet.  However all of the above are better than Saccharin (yuck).

Of course the safety of every artificial sweetener is thoroughly attacked before being accepted as self-evident.  If you hear someone criticizing the safety of one, just make sure she or he isn't of the same ilk as those who only eat birdseed and drink chlorophyll and do fasting to the point of near death.  Be a good scientist in such matters, not a hippie full of superstitions.

But I am digressing.  Congrats again on your (hopefully permanent) success!

I have no idea how you can " kick " a sugar habit. Assuming you are talking about refined processed sugar I can see that but the fact is that pretty much all plants have sugar in them. Like spaguetti with tomato sauce ? Well, tomatoes are fruit and they contain sugar. Like bread ? Most have sugar. It may not be from sugar cane but its sugar. Besides, your body requires some sugar in order to function properly. Now, if you are skipping refined sugar then you are doing good.

Yessir, that is precisely what he is talking about.  I just read the other thread.
