I think what you say about average guys begun a couple of years ago started by websites like bangbus and similar others.
Those sites selled the fantasy of a bunch of guys going out with a camera, picking up a girl on the street and eventually fucking her, so at first, the girl as well as the guy had to be average for the fantasy to work.
Those sites made thousands of members very fast, so after that many other sites came out with different fantasies but also selling the same 'homemade porn'.
It all changed when they started hiring real pornstars instead of amateur girls, BUT, the guy still NEEDED to be average, why??
Because of the same reason that they put an average guy and a very hot girl in most tv ads. Porn is 90% for guys and this 'new age of internet porn' wants guys to believe that no matter how they look they CAN get to fuck a pornstar.
In the end it's all about marketing...

well it was definitely facilitated by the internet. it is easier to make and distribute porn now than ever before.
so much porn now has out of shape guys with average (or below!) equipment. i don't care if it makes me gay, i want to at least see somebody in shape doing the humping. they don't have to be some amazing physical specimen, just at least minimize the flab and hair and small equipment.

No surprise on the heavy make up. After all, they are performers in which many of the people paying for their product expect them to be fantasy like. Chelsea Charms and Beshine sell a very exaggerated version of a busty woman precisely to make money from it. So while Puma Swede's real look may disappoint some, fact is, if she wasn't naturally attractive no amount of make up could make her so.
