Wait... in new threads?  As in, posted sometime since June 1, 2009?

I'm aware of the image issue for anything prior to the Humpty Dumpty rebuild, but I thought new posts with new images were golden.

The link for General Discussion on the first page keeps throwing 404 errors too.

Nobody else has reported experiencing this problem, so it may be an issue with your browser (like, it has cached the error page, and brings it up every time you click the link).  Please flush your cache and try again.

I see lots of this with any pre crash posts...red exes and missing avatars

Pal replies: yes, this is caused by thousands of broken URLs following the change of the forum software and has been explained many times in other threads. Originally, we were led to understand that eventually, some or all of these broken links would get updated (fixed, as the files are still in existence) but more recently we've been given other, contradictory info.

Feel free to email Matt and Gabe on this... maybe you can get an answer/repair ETA from them that is more clear than what we have. Sorry. :(

There must be something with the way my Firefox interacts with the forum.  I don't see any red x boxes.  I just know attachments should be in some posts because of the way responses to them are phrased.

To change Forum settings so that you see 50 topics per page:
Go to Forum Profile
Hover cursor over "Modify Profile" button in top left
Select "Look and Layout"
Scroll to "Topics to display per page", select 50 in dropdown menu
Click on "Change Profile" at bottom right of page.

You can also change "Messages to display per page" to 50 in the same way.

Yeah, I'm also using Firefox, and all the attachments/BEA-hosted images from before 6/1/2009 seem to have vanished, but if I'm reading this thread right, they still exist and should return once the links to them have been fixed.

As for me, I preferred using outside image hosts such as Imageshack, TinyPic, Photobucket, etc. I don't think those images are gone.

You are not wrong... outside links are unaffected. I have no new info re: at ETA on missing BEA-server pix. Feel free to email Matt & Gabe and ask... if you learn something about if/when the missing pix will be restored, please let us know. Thanks.
