First consultation only a week away now..... Wife getting VERY excited. She's breaking the news slowly to everyone, friends and family. She will be a LOT different looking when she's done, especially the size she wants to go. I want to keep this thread "alive" and post about how the consultations and surgery went. It will be like an online journal and my wife and I hope that this will help other women in their decision making, especially with larger size implants. Right now, our guess is the first doc will be a "bust", pardon the pun. But you never know unless you go. The second doc seems to be less conservative. But I'm sure my wife will post on here her thoughts, impressions, etc. If we can help at least one woman at will be worth it.

OK, I need someone in the know of "doctor speak". Melonie, I think I read somewhere that you used to be a nurse. But anyone whose had experience (gals and guys)with this kind of surgery is free to chime in.
We emailed the second doc today because we wanted to make sure he had experience and was willing to perform BA surgery with 800 cc implants. Here's the gist of what his office manager said:

the doc is CONSERVATIVE and DOESNT want trouble due to the surgery BUT He WILL give her the 800 CC implants but will inform her of the problems associated with that size implant. She also said the doc recently did 800 ccs and that he has done many surgeries on women using this larger size implant.

Here's my take: This doc will most likely go this high with my wife. Yeah, he's gotta cover his back and warn her of the potential complications but he's flexible and has had experience with this size. OPTIMISTIC

My wife's take: Doesn't sound that great, not very good news. That first sentence about being conservative and not getting into trouble is a big red flag. His manager is just being nice but isn't sincere on the size thing. PESSIMISTIC.

Look, guys are pretty bad at finding hidden meanings in things. When I see, he WILL give your wife the 800 cc implants, thats what I see. My wife sees other things.

First consultation a week away, second one with this doc a week after that. Does anybody speak, "Doctorese"?

No, I'm not. I'm just saying that this doc sounds like he might back out at some point. There will always be doubt from the docs especially when dealing with large implants.

But you shouldn't take anything I say to heart. Cause I'm no expert. Melonie is the one you should always listen to.

Thanks dude, I appreciate any info. This last couple of weeks have been fun for my wife and myself. I just don't think any doc, even if they routinely do 800 cc's (which is the largest size a doc can routinely get a hold of) is gonna say, "heck yeah, no problem, we do this easily." I think ant doc will try to save his/her butt. I think this doc is saying that if that's what she wants he will do it BUT will tell her about the potential risks of going to an implant of that size. I'm sure she'll have to sign some form.

I think that you're right on the money. Any sane doctor is going to protect themselves against litigation and with cosmetic surgery that has to take into account the personal happiness with the procedure. The doctor needs to be sure that larger implants are what your wife wants and that, if it turns out that she thinks that they're too big, that he's done everything that he can to point out that she might be unhappy. We have to jump through those same hoops in CV surgery.

Assuming that the office manager isn't BS'ing you and that he has done several of these in the past you can probably take that as a good sign. Of course, you still need to interview him thoroughly, ask to see before and after pictures of much of his work (especially those of the same im[plant size), and ask to talk with patients who've undergone same.

Of course, not having met the surgeon, I could be completely wrong. That's why you need to grill the guy and his team. Make him EARN that money! Besides, if he thinks that you are a patient who will not lean over and grab 'em, he's got an incentive to do the best work that he can. Just be polite and fiar so that he doesn't think that you're more trouble than you're worth.

I really appreciate your two cents in this matter. I was really surprised that she was NOT enthusiastic by the email I got from this doc's staff. Another reason I'm confident she can go large is because the woman has a lot to work with already. She's a pretty full C, has a large rib cage, is of medium build and is 5'6". So its not like trying to jam 800 cc implants in this 5' woman with a size AA cup. I think with this doctor's willingness to do what she WANTS and her present cup size, she's good to go with this doc. I have a very good vibe about him, he's been doing this for twenty years and the women on another board my wife goes (sorry, women ONLY) RAVED about him and his skills. She still is seeing our local doc first and its a week from today. She's very excited. I'm going for support but was told to keep my big mouth shut. I agree.

OK guys, wish Tracy luck. Her very FIRST consultation is a mere few days away. She's got a list of questions for the doc and will make it clear to him that she KNOWS what she wants and if having big DD/F boobs is "unnatural" to him then she'll look elsewhere. She's as prepared as can be: she already has her opening statement ready to go, a laundry list of questions, a DD bra to take with her, and plenty of pics of desirable large-sized women to show him. She's done her homework! I'm going along too but she's gonna do most of the talking. She's pretty articulate and says what she feels.
