I think the threads died off because the movie was so far off, but now that it is so close, maybe this one will live a while longer.  well... "close" being a month away, but still, gigantic fake boobs that match Zena Fulsom in mainstream media is something to take notice of.

Not necessarily... as pointed out in the article Munch linked to, it means that the film would probably have received an "R" rating just a few years ago, but with increasing pressures re: "family values" and the tone of the current administration (read the 2257/Melonie thread) it now gets an NC-17 which will hurt it commercially and thus disabuse any future filmmakers/producers/studios/distributors from similar fare in later on.

What it DOES mean is that if the filmmakers feel that they MUST have an "R" to have a chance at making their money back (which is why most films are made in the first place... it's a business of course) they will have to re-edit "A Dirty Shame" and then resubmit it to the ratings board with LESS of the kind of content that you or I would consider 'good.'

Yet ANOTHER reason to choose the lesser of two evils come November.
