I would have gone with:

1. Average height of an American female is 5'4". Based on this, she appears to be average height.
2. The length of an average female's hand is 7.1".
3. Coincidentally, the width of the average 36F bra cup underwire is 7.1".
4. The average width of the straps of a knapsack is 2.5".

So... she is wearing black underwear, and her name is Jennifer.

Unrelated facts to conclusions rocks!  Yay ignorance!

yeah, she's VERY lovely.... and i think pretty much counters the arguments for blurring the face... because if we weren't able to see a pretty girl with a pretty smile... they'd just be "average" boobs with a blurry face.

That was never part of our arguement for blurring the faces.  Many of us in favor of blurring agreed that we like to see the pretty faces as well as the nice breasts.  however, if she is unaware of the picture and/or unaware that it is posted here, is this conscionable?  There's another thread on one of these boards where a man is trying to convince his girlfriend (or was it wife...  The detail escaped me as one that was annoying to me as it ruined my chances of dating the woman) not to have a breast reduction.  he posted several pictures, with her permission, but none of her face, or even a full body shot.  That was respectful of him, and made the pictures that much nicer.  In my opinion it even made them better...  Although I admit the downward glance into cleavage was a nice camera angle and it made me a touch jealous...

So yes, I like a pretty smile, a good face, and a nice body.  Who doesn't?  But I still think candid shots should at the least have identifying features blurred for the subjects protection.  After all, I want that pretty face happy and healthy for the next photo that comes along.

I can see your point that not knowing their pictures are out on the web for all to see is a kind of "violation" of their privacy, but I am not posting anything that everyone just walking by her is not seeing.  No shots through bathroom windows, no up the skirt pictures, etc.  And how does her picture being on the web put her in danger?  Are the girls in Girls Gone Wild in any danger? If you wanted to find this girl would you know where to look?  Just trying to get deeper into the code of ethics here.

Reminds me of that scene in Porky's:

Coach Roy Brackett:
We could put up wanted posters all over school: Have you seen this prick? Report immediately to Beula Balbricker. Do not attempt to apprehend this prick, as it is armed and dangerous. It was last seen hanging out in the girls' locker room at Angel Beach High School.

Identifying features and what-not....

Danger issues aside, the girl likely doesn't know what we are doing with her photograph, or even that the photograph exists.  True danger or no, the poster's home location can be found (by tracing IPs among other things.  And many of you have your location conveniently narrowed down to a country, state/province, or city.) withut too much effort by someone that knows what they are doing.

Shifting to a different gear... now that the image is here, it is most certainly available to morphers.  While I trust most of you guys (and a few of us gals, too) out here, this is a free access site.  Until you get banned, you can lurk and watch all you like, without even creating a forum I.D.  And this is a morpher hangout, a place to share, comment, play, et cedera.  Now, let's say for the sake of argument that someone does a simple morph...  A clothing drop.  Perhaps this girl is studying for, or even already working in a field where a simple nude photo can create a scandal, if not prevent her from working in the field again.  Granted, it's less common now than back in the days when Miss America lost her crown for posing, but it still happens.  Now I'm not saying any of these things are going to happen.  I'm not even saying they are likely at all (I beleive the chances are astronomically slim), but were I to post someone's image here, without their knowlesge or permission, I would at the least blur their facial features, or cover the eyes with a cheesy black box (a la eighties technology) as a token of respect for her right to privacy.

Also note, that this can be touchy legal matters here.  I doubt the forum would get in trouble for it, but the wrong person discovers they've been photoed and morphed unkowingly, and even if you win the legal battle you'ld be up to your neck in courst costs.  This, too, is not something I think likely to happen, but possible enough to err on the side of caution.

As for the girls gone wild...  They take their tops off in front of a camera.  With lights pointing at them.  That's different than a photo taken at...  what was it, 50 yards away?  I'll have to check after I post this.  Just the same, remember not long ago when the one Girl gone Wild tried to sue for their using her image without her permission?  Could you afford to fight that?  Could you afford to simply settle out of court?  Keep in mind, Americans are law-suit happy, and willing to do a lot if it means getting money from someone else's pockets.

Edit --  It was fifty feet away.  One third the distance I have listed above.  Still, I doubt she knew she was being photographed.  Incidentally, Maski, did you tell her you took her picture afterword?  Or what you planned to do with it?  As I said,, I enjoyed the photo, and agree that the smile makes the difference, but think it respectful to blur the face anyway.

Clamdigger, I see the logic and I think for MY OWN safety I will hide faces from now on.  Thanks for a well thought and well expressed opinion.

You are welcome.  And I didn't mean to frighten you into changing your ways, I merely wanted to explain my position.  I respect you for your future blurring, but in some ways I am also regretful.  Like I said earlier... I actually like seeing the faces.

I personally prefer the "anonymity bars" that the f-files used over the "pixellate the entire head" or the "there's a black hole where your face used to be", but ultimately they all trump the "let's screw up up the entire composition of the photo by smudging the head region".
