First, if you want to make sure the mods consider an issue, PM us or click Report To Moderator on your own post. We sometimes blaze through the forums looking only for problems, and fail to notice things like this admirably civil discussion.
I lean in the direction of keeping just one thread for Anya. Her life is a continuum; she lives through changes, and a single thread will reflect that. A reduction doesn't make her a different woman. It doesn't diminish our esteem for her, or our gratitude for her past and future work.
On a more practical level, adding a second thread would mean that posters would have to be aware of both threads in order to post images in the appropriate one.
I agree with Robin that this is a good subject for calm discussion. The common parlance at the BEA is that all reductions are bad, that there are no valid justifications for reductions, that the results are always bad. Here you have an opportunity to explore ideas that contradict those.
