Tell me about it but thankfully a couple of months ago i moved into a new place with some really great air conditioning.  

Haven't had a chance to notice any hot looking babes around the new place yet though.

As others said, it would take more juice to move the weight than you'd get back.  Even if that wasn't the case, you'd have one other problem - inertia.  A big weight whomping back and forth in that pipe would exert huge lateral strain on the axle & pinion mechanism.
