I agree with everything you said, and I've always thought the same thing. The first time I saw her was on one of HBO's Shock Video specials several years back, and it was at least a year, probably two, before I could even find anything on the net as to who she was (since the special, despite its entire segment on her, egregiously neglected to give her name), and since then I've searched very hard many times, and have since just given up. There just doesn't seem to be much material at all, and what I do find is usually a very unbalanced-looking pre-implant Ashley.
