That little story was nicely done!  (And it isn't often you see the word "vigintillions" [10^63] used correctly in a sentence...]

If one is more visual in their proclivities seek out these "Lovecraftian" pictures: In The Mouth of Madness, The Relic and Event Horizon.  All rely heavily on the stylings of the master of Gothic Horror.  Also check out the company Chaosium.  They publish the Call of Cthulu role playing game and should soon be coming out with their Great Old Ones presidential package: Cthulu for President! Why settle for the lesser evil?  It is a fun, hilarious package full of campaign buttons, bumperstickers, yard signs and the platform is hilarious if you're familiar with the genre.
Morality is merely an attitude we adopt towards people whom we personally dislike.

Most unnoticed blatantly Lovecraftian flick, in the "Crazed genius follows demon-god's plans to build monolith that will bring about end of the world by opening a portal to cataclysmic evil" vein:

Ghostbusters!

In the case of Lovecraft, it's really the affected Victorian prose that carries the effect, not the cinematically reproduceable details.

It's very difficult to watch horror flicks and not feel something far more awesome lurking in your memory once you have read the likes of HPL and William Hope Hodgson.

David Lynch however, uses film as the original medium rather than a translation, and produces something that may not work in words.

Yeah, at the begining of Ghostbusters it does create the ambience, but it's difficult so see Mr. Stay-Puft as one of the Old Ones.

Over at WallyWorld on the weekend. DVD Bargain Bin $5.88 for Creepshow: The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verril. Obvious Lovecraft Colour Out Of Space influence.

Wow... talk about back from the dead. LMAO.

THE BOOB PIC

Lovecraft was a master. I'd like to be able to inspire the same kind of harrowing, chilling effect with music someday.

For those getting into it... I highly recommend The Case of Charles Dexter Ward . .

Gave me frickin' nightmares...
