Never enjoyed country music but agreed she was an all around icon.  She has unfortunately been added to the R.I.P. thread.

She may have been a country icon, but she did have her inroads into the crossover market.  A version of "Jolene" she re-did still plays occasionally on a classic rock station I listen to, and she wrote "I Will Always Love You", which Whitney Houston had a huge hit with.

The woman was versatile as heck.

She really was one-of-a-kind.

In the 70s and 80s, she was known by non-country music listeners just for her boobs.
But in the 21st century, she transcended that.

Starting with her philanthropy: she funded early COVID-19 vaccine research and gifted over 200 million books to children through her Imagination Library.
It redefined her legacy. Now the world sees Dolly Parton as a brilliant businesswoman, a sharp wit, a great musician and force of pure warmth.
