Is that for that 2-liter engine?  If so, is it naturally aspirated, forced-induction, or what?  What compression?  Any particular fuel requirements (octane or what have you?)

This is what I mean by American cars being made down to a price. Of course having an independent rear axel will make for better handling. Why else would european car manufacturers put in a more expensive and complicated system if it didn't make a difference? That doesn't make sense.

Ah, no, what I meant was, that they noted that IRS didn't seem to make a difference for the new Mustang, therefore they abandoned the IRS in favor of a live axle.  Note that the previous-gen did use an IRS for the Cobra models.

Also, note less complexity and reduced weight.  These things make a difference too.

What makes a big difference in one car may not necessarily do so in another.


On the other hand, the front-drive Honda CRX of the late-80s actually had a solid axle in the rear.  I always thought that looked strange, but I guess Honda had a reason for adding that.  The standard Civic, based on the same overall chassis, didn't get that.

Lordy lord! Thank god we didn't prototype the nucleon car into production. This would have given the car bombing a whole new meaning. I have one question: Did this car come with a flux capacitor that make time travel possible?

I prefer the last of the production Riviera coupes like the SUPERCHARGED one my aunt has.  It is WICKED fast for a 2 door front drive buick coupe .

(4 cylinder)outputs 225 BHP these days,  amazing....
I think German cars are the best value for BHP per Buck and damn solid engineering as well.

The Ford Nucleon never got off the drawing board because they couldn't make the reactor and shielding small enough or light enough. They still can't. But you have to love those tail fins!!!

Um, I think you're missing my point.  What I'm trying to say is that these high-powered yet small displacement motors would not survive very well in terms of being the powerplant for a daily driver luxo-barge that had the sheer mass of my old car.

It'd be interesting to find out if we had the means to actually do that, but I'm thinking the thing would be slow as a turd, and get poor fuel economy, despite the smaller, more modern engine.
