A Premature Visit From "The Old Man's Friend"
« on: May 06, 2007, 12:09:05 AM »
Yecch!

We all feel immortal, don't we?

Here I sit in my very own hospital room, tapping away on my fucking laptop. I hate laptops. You hit one letter and it prints foreverrrrrrrr. But the pneumonia is getting better. Yeah, I thought it was just a persistent cough. By Thursday I couldn't complete a phone call without a coughing attack, so I went home. So I wound up here.

So my cheerful doc tells me all about Jim Henson in painful detail, who just ignored that cough until it turned into The Big P. He ignored that, to, until he **89**.

So here I am, all those wonder drugs slaughtering the bacilli in my lungs. I should be out of here Monday, turned loose upon the world again.
Someday, chi1dren, this entire fuck-up will be yours.

Get well soon.

Hope that at least you've got some busty nurses around to ogle over.

Get well.  Stay well.  Be smart.  Learn from this.  And take care of yourself.

I am learning from this, too: I thought the Old Man's Friend was a buxotic ultra-vixen...

Jim Henson... one day you're The Frog In Charge, and the next day you're a cautionary tale.

Take the meds, catch some rest, get well soon, go home happy.

Hey Pedonbio, you weren't perchance hacking up any strange clumps which looked like they could have been extras in a sci-fi thriller, were you?

If it turns out they release you and the meds you take are making you feel worse more than they make you feel better, be sure to bring this to some healthcare professional's attention, get them to switch you to something else.

if you have a persistent cough and ignore it even if it just a minor asthma, that it is far better to address it then let it build upon the aggravation.

Never heard of a persistent cough/pneumonia being referred to as "the old man's friend" before. In any case, that fool ain't no friend of mine, nosiree!

And may your HMO be enlightened enough to insist that you are assigned Chelsea Charms-sized nurses, to speed your recovery/recuperation, 3de!

Thanks, guys. It has been referred to as "the old man's friend" because, once the immune system has failed, pneumonia provides a painless death.

Feeling much better, but still sipping tea and lounging around.
Someday, chi1dren, this entire fuck-up will be yours.

At least it's bacterial rather than viral.  You should get better a whole lot faster.
