Thank you, all. What's crazy is that I haven't voided the "burgundy iced tea," as I have come to think of it, ever since I left a sample for the doctor three days ago; instead, it's right back to good old ordinary "weak lemonade," so all seems well once more.
Something like this happened to me sixteen years ago -- but now as then (or then as now, depending on how you look at it), the only handy hypothesis is that I passed a kidney stone. That doesn't make all the sense in the world to me, seeing as no stone has turned up and I keep hearing about how excruciating that's supposed to be, yet no real pain was involved with this. Maybe my body occasionally tries to make a kidney stone but comes up only with a kidney sand grain, something to a kidney stone what the Tunguska object would be to a full-fledged comet.
Anyhow, they'll call back, but at this point this is looking more like a "symptom" thread than any actual malady in its own right -- so now I feel a bit embarrassed, surrounded as I am by pneumonia and lumpy testicles. (Metaphorically speaking, of course!) I hereby offer this thread up as a forum for anyone who undergoes, as I have, the shock of any hematuria.
I even offer a motto. "Hematuria: you will get through it -- as surely as it gets through you."
