If you want to be superficial -- I don't even begin to understand the attraction. Tina Fey pretending to be her is a million times more attractive, but only because I know she can take it all off.

Educate me, men out there. You think she is attractive? With that accent? You don't pay attention to what she says? That horrible climb-up wig?

I'm surprised that this discussion hasn't descended to what cup she is. Because that seems to be what this election is based on.

Social degradation starts at home. If both parents are working 2-3 job to make ends meet. Then who end up raising the offspring? Daycare factory?

As for Sarah Palin watching SNL with the sound turn off, maybe there are others just like her and watch the interview with the sound off. ???
"Yesterday, Reince Priebus called this whole story a 'nothing burger,'" he said. "Well these emails have turned it into an all-you-can-prosecute buffet."

Watching the Katie Couric-Sarah Palin interview with the sound turned off wouldn't have been such a bad idea, come to think of it.

Her accent has become more and more off-putting the more I hear it, and the words that she says are even worse. Forgive me, it was a moment of weakness brought on by that Photoshopped Palin-in-a-stars-and-stripes-bikini photo...true attractiveness comes from within, they say, and Palin has just proved it. Despite whatever physical charms she might possess, inside, where it counts, she is one ugly woman.

The Founding Fathers established this nation on that very basis. Many politicians, past and present have broken the Constitution's so-called Elastic Clause to make the government do more than what it ought. It is on that basis, and not any other, upon which I will be voting for candidates and causes. In all ways, I am a conservative, because I see that moral degradation leads to social degradation, and it is on that basis that I seek to supplicate this nation to God's guidance and wisdom, just as the Founding Fathers did. Trusting in His absolute and perfect guidance, freedom will conquer tyranny and terrorism, for God will not be mocked.

It's always good to meet somebody who never studied history. Which "founding father" do you mean? Jefferson, who described churches as "factories of ignorance"? Or Washington, who was threatened with explusion from his parish church because he both refused to kneel or to bow his head for prayers? Or Franklin... Oh, never mind.

Conservatism is the last shining lamp on a hill that calls Americans to remember their heritage and fight for truth, justice, and the American way. Our heroes fight for us; let us fight for ourselves, for our children and grandchildren. Let us not bequeath to them freedoms lost and dreams shattered. The American people, as a whole, are exceptional, and they will prove so again. Given life, liberty, and the ability to pursue happiness, America will prove its greatness once again as the last, best hope of man on earth.

You mean the conservatives, who are demanding imposing a debt of another trillion dollars on those children and grandchildren this week? Those wonderful conservative examples like Larry Craig and Mark Foley and John McCain, who refers to his wife as a "cunt"?

Which of those shining examples will you have your children emulate?

Quote:

Q-"I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America.
And to the Republic, for which it stands,
one nation, under God, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.
"-BE

Well, Q, are you trying out to be the last Christian Socialist in America? You might want to learn a bit about who wrote that and why, before you go reciting it for any of your conservative friends. You do realize it originated as a pledge for a Christian Socialist youth group, don't you? And if you think Socialists aren't Christians, you'd better talk with Angela Merkel.
Someday, chi1dren, this entire fuck-up will be yours.

Did you see the second part of the Couric-Palin interview? It's mind-blowing just how out of it this woman is. Remember when Natalie Maines said that she was ashamed that she and Bush were from the same state? Now I'm feeling sorry for Alaskans that about the only two politicians that the whole nation knows from their state (Ted "the internet is a series of tubes" Stevens and their governor) are both such bad representatives of them, because surely all Alaskans (or not even a large portion of them) could be this thick.

McCain, for the love of God, end the torture and cut this person loose.

Seriously?  Ew.

Who are these men?  /seinfeld

After hearing the various snippets of her on TV, Youtube and the like, I would argue that a lot of men see (and hear) her and think, "Holy crap, she reminds me of my ex-wife!"

Wow.  The second part was somehow even more painful to watch than the first.  Unbelievable.  How can she seriously defend the "I know about foreign policy because I live close to Russia" garbage with a straight face?

All day today, me and my friends were helping another friend move.  and because we are lazy, it took us a total of 9 hours of moving, taking a 10 minute break every 5 minutes.

It ended up with us using variations of the line from Palin's interview "McCain is taking shots from his own party."  and "McCain's a maverick." in an extremely over exaggerated version of her accent.

90% of our conversations devolved into that.

I thought Palin sounded a bit out of her depth when interviewed on the street in NY.  And somewhat scary.

Most of her answers remind me of how I would react in college when faced with an essay question and I knew that I had spent too much time carousing to study for it beforehand, with one crucial difference: when in that situation, I would use the question to start to frame an answer.

Q: "Where is Paris? Discuss."
A: "The location of Paris near the central portion of the European country of France, which as its capital the city of Paris."

That at least shows that I know something about the topic, just not enough, so I padded the answer. I wouldn't get full marks but I would get at least something.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, knows so little about most things that the Rove boys tried to make her cram some stuff, and she's too dimwitted to try and relate what she has crammed to the question being asked. Which is why when Katie Couric asked her to simply compare and contrast the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, she started spouting keywords like a Google AdSense bot gone wild: "stay the course", "don't blink", "victory", "9/11", "they want to get us". All fine and dandy, but not an answer to the question.

Why do we focus so much time on how ill-prepared she is? It wouldn't matter if she was running for mayor of Bumblefuck, Alaska, or to be the governor of a huge state (geographically) with a smaller population than most state college systems (the University of California probably has more students enrolled than live in the entire 49th state). But she was chosen to be the person who could conceivably have to take over should the worst happen. Her choice speaks to the bad judgment of the chooser. Her choice speaks to the cynicism of her party (we can put a trained monkey in the VP slot and people would vote for her, plus we can manipulate her behind the scenes and still run this country bwahahahahaha). Her choice speaks to the undereducated voting population of this country (because in a civilized country, her nomination as the VP for a major party would have had her been laughed out of town).

Hm. These must be those interesting times that those Chinese people are always talking about.

Anything in her past and what little she's said to defend her actions without massive intervention from her handlers has made it clear she was nominated as a figurehead.  Fortunately, real issues facing our nation have come to the fore and shrivelered her figurehead value.

While I still fear for my country, I think Palin will soon occupy the niche she deserves.
