Curious -- who DOES own this site?

I've been scolded -- and rightly so -- for not understanding the rules. And I've volunteered to rewrite them to try to make them more clear.

But the reasons I so often see for all of the bannings are "The owner of this site," etc.

Who is this mystery owner? Can we meet you? Thank you? Praise you?

Who really owns this site? We all contribute, but someone out there hosts it. Which one of us is it?

I just want to thank whomever it is.

You've been invited to submit a rewrite of the Site Rules if you like, and also been informed that the rewrite cannot increase the length of the rules since the longer they become, the less likely users are to read them. Given that constraint, editing becomes problematic (they've been boiled down and reboiled many times to limit length and improve clarity) but as mentioned, you're more than welcome to try.

The Owner of the BEA rarely posts, as is his prerogative. This site has existed for over ten years, and he seems to prefer to keep a low profile and simply run the site rather than post daily.
