I chose my name for a variety of reasons.  Originally I needed a name for a character in the short lived Dragonball Z RPG. (I know, lame...)  One of the other players absolutely hated joke names, so in order to make fun of him I came up with Grey Karashi.  I like the name Grey.  It comes from a comic I like very much by the same name. I can't remember the artist, and it's like almost ten feet from where I sit so, I mean, I just can't go find out the guy's name. Karashi is Japanese for mustard, according to at least one book.  I like mustard above all other condiments, Grey Poupon is a kind of mustard, I'm sure you can see where this is going.  Ha ha, very funny, blah blah blah... I kept Grey Karashi as my handle, when doing porn related things, because none of the 3.5 billion people who use Grey as a cybername ever tack Karashi to the end of it.  It made getting a Yahoo mail/club account less irritating.  Not much less....  Someday someone who played that game with me is going to stumble across something I've done under this pseudonym and bring my tiny porn empire crashing into my real life.

I chose mine because my usual screen name was taken for e-mail and AIM and stuff, so I went with the most obscure thing I could think of, my favorite Old English word.

In my History of English class, we studied Old English, and the word that I thought was the coolest was aelfscine, which translates to "elf-bright" and meant "beautiful."  Not trying to be all vain or anything using it as a screenname, I just really like it.

I have many screennames but this one I chose specifically for a roleplaying game. But when I began playing they banned it. I had created it by looking at a silver castle high on a cliff and the cliff appeared to have silver veines running thru it... It is now my online gaming name and well kinda has become me...

I like Cowboy Bebop, and Spike was taken so I took Jet, after Jet Black.  I'm also a fan of chinese Jet Li movies like Fist of Legend.

Well my I.Q. was tested at 148 in the seventh grade, but I didn't find out until after High School graduation when we received our vaunted "permanent school record". At the time my nick-name was "The Professor" but when I came here that was just too much, even for my ego to support.

So, Nimrod you say... OK, stay with me here because this comes in two parts.

 First, Nimrod was a ancient pre-Babylonian King, he was Asseryian (sp?) who was one of the first real-life recorded leaders of history (not a composite or legend based character) - real dates are tough to lock down but we are talking 2400-2300 BCE or more. Non-biblical accounts define him as a outstanding statesman and hunter. His rule emphasized knowledge of the world and man over that of the spiritual and religious. Near the end of his life his "Kingdom" was most of the "known world". It was his support of the secular aspects of state that challenged the underpinnings and power base of the more religious castes. To protect their position the more aggressively religious (nice oxymoron) fermented decent on the grounds of Nimrods growing "atheistic" tendencies. He was killed for "challenging God" - poor guy.

Second, Nimrod was a really cool Marvel comic character that I really liked. He was a Robot from the future. An advanced Sentinel model that could adapt to any threat and modify itself to add to its already extensive array of offensive and defensive systems. T3 eat your heart out. He total kicked the but of ANY single Marvel character he encountered. He even killed a few. I still think that Marvel would use an unstoppable agent to periodically "clean house" and get rid of surplus characters.

Nimrod was electric purple - and purple is my favorite color. Refer to my avatar for a good image of Nimrod about 1993. I did some work on it.

For those of you into comics - Nimrod is still around the Marvel universe after becoming combined with another advanced Sentinel, The Master Mold. But I lost track several years back.

So I guess I am an unstoppable purple death robot!

I had Shockwave the transformer as an avater but that was more of Nimrod's doing.

Anyway Nimrod thinks that I'm like a bunny and "Kithara" is what I used on some other sites.

Well I'm a bit of an anime nut (not quite otaku level in the anime sense though) and have liked the stuff since I was a kid in the '80s (during the second anime boom).  So when I found the stuff again (since I didn't know the style of animation had a name and couldn't search it out on my own), I started with the readily available and kind of cheesy dubbed stuff in the U.S.  I found looked at the character and I realized that I finally found a character that I had a some resemblance to (although some people think I look and act a bit more like Shinji from Shinseki Evangelion).

The chracter also fit due to the fact that he wears formal wear and is pretty much dead silent in his entrances and exits.  I have a sort of thing for formal wear since I believe that when I get dressed up, I'm going to be unmistakenably dressed up.  Also, I tend to move without much noise, thus causing many people to not know when I've left the room or how long I've been in the room (I do this without even trying).  Also, the character is quite chivilrous and that's something I make an attempt at.

So I ended up truncating (since the full name was usually taken) the name and since then it has ended up being a sign of class and elegance of a past era.  I mean how many 20th century pop culture individuals of class and elegance wore tuxedos?
