I'm surprised nobody has posted about this new miniseries yet.  I'm usually the one who is rather late to such parties. 

What appears to be a remake of the original.  Starring Ian McKellan, who (after 60 mins of the first ep) is awesome.  The actor playing No. 6 is pretty good, but he'll never be a Patrick McGoohan.

I rather like the retro look and feel.  From what I can gather, No. 6 used to work on Wall Street, as opposed to being a British former secret agent.

I've little doubt the purists will decry this remake as a horrible bastardization of the original, but for now it satiates what I'm expecting.  Too early to tell whether it's a POS, but so far?  It doesn't suck.

I think AMC has officially overplayed its success with Mad Men and Breaking Bad, both of which are fine series.  Plus I have to admit, the POTENTIAL for this is through the roof, you could take it in all kinds of intriguing ways.

Unfortunately, this is striking me as simply yet another easily forgotten foray into the art of diversion.  I'm not the least bit intrigued about why Caviezel is there.  Caviezel's an actor I always simply thought of as "good face, adequate talent."  It's fun to see Gandalf -- or Magneto, if you prefer -- evidently enjoying himself, and I'm glad someone has discovered the cinematic possibilities of Namibia, but this is feeling as empty as its own desert.

I still terribly miss the short-lived "Nowhere Man" of the no less short-lived UPN network, in which Bruce Greenwood (JFK in "Thirteen Days") played a photojournalist on the run from a conspiracy.  If there was any true heir to the spirit of the original "Prisoner," it was that.

It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected... which is saying a lot given the cult status of the original and the propensity to decry any/all remakes. I appreciated the lack of obvious computer VFX (though hardly absent, they weren't overly flashy) and the effort to seemingly concentrate on character. Of course, it's impossible to view this show w/o looking through the filter of the success of Lost, as so many recent shows have attempted to capitalize (generally without success) on that sort of thing.

Also, the woman in his apartment (before the Island, after her resigned) has a great body and is very pretty... which hardly hurts.

Lucy aka 415 was really working the bod in last night's episodes: just a notch below Mad Men's Christina Hendricks IMO. Surely caps/clips will pop up soon: tons of ample cleavage, some on-her-back shots (with impressive projection) and even running in a low-cut wedding dress... simply marvelous. She's very curvy overall, much like CH too.

I just wish Nick at Nite and TV Land still showed the older classics, instead of the more recent 'TV favorites'.  Roseanne is recent enough to see re-runs in the usual syndication, I want to see F-Troop!

I saw the first two parts of the show last night.  My first impressions are favourable.    Not sure the casting is quite right, but I stick with the show.  I guess as this is a miniseries 6 will escape?

First off, let me say to DruulEmpire that I agree completely that Nowhere Man was very much in the spirit of The Prisoner.  In fact, the producers have acknowledged that fact and even produced one episode in which the hero, Thomas Veil, was held prisoner in a Village-like community.  And Druul, you don't have to miss the show; Nowhere Man is available on DVD.  One of the best shows ever on TV, and well worth the 26 bucks they're asking for it.

Next, let me mildly chide MasterDragonfly (in a friendly way) for bringing up this series and then not pointing out the busty character in it, 415 (aka Lucy).  He must've been really enthralled in the show if he forgot to mention her! 

Lastly, let me get somewhat OT (for this place, anyway) and say that having now seen the entire miniseries, it's a worthy take on the original.  I think they were wise to do this not as a remake, but a reinvention.  What's the difference, you ask?  A reinvention seeks to tell the story in its own way.  Think Star Trek:  The Next Generation, which reinvented the whole Star Trek concept, instead of just imitating the Kirk-Spock era that went before.  Now that I've seen the entire thing, I can say that it is very much in the spirit of the original, while telling it in a completely different way.  It's a very complex story, and I wouldn't be surprised if on a second or even third viewing, I see things in it that I hadn't seen before.

The original series is still my favorite, but this is not by a long shot the butcher job some people expected.  It's quite interesting in its own right.
