On the afternoon of June 13th the weather system(s) that went through the mid-west finally hit the east coast.
In my immediate area we had a lot of wind and some rain...for about 20 minutes.
In this 20 minutes the power went out, flickered a couple of times and then nothing.
You really don't realize sometimes how dependent we are on electricity.
I found out the next morning that 400,000 folks also did not have power. It appears that other areas in Hampton Roads were hit just as bad if not worse.
So there I was with a laptop who's battery only lasts about 1.5 hrs and a cell phone that also had about 30 percent left.
Since I couldn't cook anything I ordered my supper from the local China Wok.
My worst fear was that all my frozen food would have to be thrown out as well as some of the food in the refrigerator area (Such as milk, cheese, etc)
When I had lived in Boynton Beach, FL Hurricane Wilma tore threw that state as a category 3 hurricane. Our power was off 4 days, but we had prepared with plenty of water, dry and canned food as well as having our own generator.
Anyway, it was cool that evening with temp in the mid 70's and low humidity which was not too bad considering all that could have went wrong during this time. Unfortunately I could not run my CPAP machine and did not **82** very well that night.
In the early mornings I usually open up the windows so my apartment can air out, but by noon it has been in the mid 90's and high humidity.
My power was restored just before noon yesterday and my so called life goes on.
