Some of us do, I guess. Some of us don't.

I still watch The Good Wife, but this season was probably the last one I'll watch. It has fallen victim to what my wife calls "the Crime Family syndrome". The best example is "Blue Bloods"; without the Reagan Family providing the victims and/or unknowing enablers, there would be no crime in New York City. The same is true for the CSI franchise (Since when to blood-spatter experts run around making arrests?) and the Lawn Order franchise (I don't give a shit that all the cops recite their wretched childhoods).

Unfortunately, the CBC shows are finished, in syndication, and they are not nearly so interesting the third time around.

On the other hand, I have become a regular viewer of The Mentalist, and the PBS series The American Experience has been doing some great spadework--The program about the vigilante murders of 57 Irish railroad workers in Pennsylvania in 1833 was magnificent.

So there it is. If it weren't for PBS (Frontline, Nova) and the John Stewart/Stephen Colbert combo, I'd be watching two hours a week.

Well, that and the weather forecast.

I finally got around to watching the Venture Bros. episode "What Color Is Your Cleansuit?" and I swear, I felt like I was 17 and stoned the whole way through. I'm not and I wasn't, but the impression was so intense, it seemed worth sharing.

The Davey and Goliath episode 'Lost In A Cave' which had me a bit teary-eyed by the end.

I linked a still frame from the episode (of Davey peeping through a hole in the cave wall) and the entire thing on Youtube, but realized that Davey is a min0r, so you'll have to be satisfied with the generic title card and google it yerownself if you're curious.

Justified on FX:

One of the two best shows on TV at the moment, IMHO, the best being Breaking Bad  Walton Goggins is absolutely amazing as Boyd Crowder.  Super acting, all around, and a really eccentric bunch of characters.

Walking Dead on AMC: still entertaining, but I don't know how long they can keep it up. By which I mean my interest.

I started watching this for kicks a month or so ago, and reeled off the three seasons in just a couple of weeks.  To my great surprise, I enjoyed it.  I wouldn't call it "great" TV, but it is entertaining, in the same kind of way LOST was entertaining, I guess.  These people grow on you after awhile and you want them to survive.  I do think the addition of Scott Wilson in season 2 added a lot to the show, and "The Governor" has to be one of the creepiest villains I've ever seen.

But they all pale in comparison to BrBa, which returned for the start of its final half-season last night.

I want to say that this thread has again reaffirmed my faith in this community.

Nobody has mentioned liking either of two shows, new this season, which have, alas, lasted more than three episodes:

1) The Dome. If you want to use every sci-fi cliche ever used, you have to do it with some self-aware humor, i.e., Spaceballs.

2) Siberia. Can you imagine the writer's meeting? "Okay, everybody has done a 'reality' show. Let's do a drama about a 'reality' show that fails? And let's place it in Russia? Add dead people, lottsa dead people. But are they really dead? Wow, genius!"

However, one show that I regularly watch is The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. And until Arsenio Hall comes back to the air, Mr. Ferguson will retain the title of Greatest Late-Night Talk Show Host in America. As just one example of why I have bestowed that title upon him, witness:

I agree wholeheartedly that Craig Ferguson is thoughtful, entertaining and interesting to watch in ways that almost all of his peers are rarely able to match (with the occasional exception of Conan). And yes, Mr. Ferguson IS deserving of the title you've bestowed upon him: the "Greatest Late-Night Talk Show Host in America." Thus far, you and I are completely simpatico.

Where our paths diverge however is in your suggestion that Arsenio Hall's pending return might dislodge Mr. Ferguson from his lofty perch.    What? Why? How? Without intending to go out of my way to be disrespectful to Mr. Hall, how could you even equate those two? I mean, to put it kindly, Arsenio's entire schtick to date has been to be obsequious and fawning to the point of parody. I don't deny that some find him entertaining (then again, some folks actually listen to the Jonas Brothers, Justin Beiber, etc...  ) but from the shows I saw Arsenio do, I can recall nothing that would even let him break into the top five historically.

Yup, he does shoot in front of a live audience.  That was no laugh track.

The Late Late Show is always taped in front of a small (hundred or so) live audience. There is never a laugh track.

Also, the "Why Everything Sucks" rant was the cold open of that show, so it was probably completely improvised.

...And I have to agree with Pal and Zookie on this one: Ferguson so far exceeds anyone else in late night in terms of interviewing skill, quick-wittedness, goofiness, and sheer charm that it's hard to imagine anyone, including Arsenio Hall, unseating him. Tune in every night and watch him almost literally charm the pants off the actress-du-jour.

(Of course this discussion comes up when his show is in a rare week of reruns...)
