I'm not sure I understand why some would question the burial at sea. What were we supposed to do with his body? Give it back to his family?  ???
Just as you have "birthers", you also have "deathers", people who won't believe that he's dead unless they can see the body themselves. (Expect Donald Trump to jump on that bandwagon as soon as he can get over this creaming he recently got.) I was a little dissatisfied with the burial at sea too, until I remembered Graceland. If people would line up for hours to see the resting place of the king of rock-n-roll, imagine what al-Qaeda junkies would do with the resting place of this mass murderer...and besides, if I heard it right, we offered his remains to Saudi Arabia and they told us to take a hike. No one wanted his body, most likely for the reason I just gave, and so the only other solution was burial at sea. Apparently, while there is an Islamic tradition for burial at sea, there isn't one for cremation -- which is what I would have done if given the chance.

Or, no, actually, if given the chance, I would have greatly preferred to have them haul his ass to lower Manhattan for trial. But, well.

7. Uhh... What about Pakistan? Did they help up find him? Did they assist in any way? What the heck was he doing in such an open location? This is seriously going to complicate the international politics.

My understanding is that they *were* working with Pakistan (who was originally being cooperative), but at some point they decided to let past experience be their guide, and trimmed the committee.

Expect Donald Trump to jump on that bandwagon as soon as he can get over this creaming he recently got.

Wow. Scathing and amusing, and yet I have to wonder whether that guy will ever find work inside any building Trump owns. Ever. For the rest of his comedic career.

Some thoughts:

2. He had to be buried at sea, so no one could make a shrine out of his resting place. It was done quickly, in line with Islamic tradition - though for them, burial at sea is acceptable only in rare circumstances. Seems no country wanted to deal with the body, so there was no other choice given the time requirements. With regards to doing the burial in line with Islamic tradition, I do not see a problem. There's no need to piss his followers off any more than necessary. Look, he was dead. Our troops killed him. There's no reason, ever, to mutilate a body or humiliate a corpse. No matter how nasty the person was in life. It serves no purpose whatsoever.

Exactly my point.

I hear (from Rush Limbaugh!) that the idea to send in Special Forces was solely President Obama's. The military wanted to use drones, missiles, and other "death by remote" methods. Obama didn't want to risk civilian casualties and collateral damage. Good for him!

Looks like the president made the right call. The special forces raid has helped us acquire a shitload of information.  8)

There is a philosophy when handling legal matter and that is to keep yourself honest. In other word handle things to present yourself in a manner to leave yourself with no doubt. Doing a enhance scan with OCR was not the best idea in handling a legal paper. You certainly wouldn't get away with doing a OCR of the constitution and call it the legal copy? you either have a photo copy of the document or a rewritten copy of the content of the document. With lawyers you couldn't use the latter for legal binding contract. Most people would regard a photocopy of your birth certificate as legal proof and not the latter of a rewritten content of the document. Having a authorize Signature on a separate layer of the document will not hold in court as a legal verification of the document. It would require another notarize signature for it, verifying that document.

OCR scan rewrite is no longer a photocopy of the original, it is now doctored! You dig?

Oh, get over it already! Really. I get your point. He showed the document, and regardless of if it was not the original certified copy, it's all the proof anyone should have needed. Did you expect them to send notarized copies to everyone in the USA?  ;)  Dragging this out here takes away from the intention of this thread, therefore I'm done with this conversation. So let's just leave it at that, OK?

No I never really expected that 311,279,289 get a copy of a notarize birth certificate. Sheesh! No need to lose your head over it.

Seriously! You worry about dishonoring the intention of Osama's death topic??? I didn't know you were the sensitive type. Should we laugh and drink a toast or say a prayer?

~~ All violence is injustice. The fire of hatred and violence cannot be extinguished by adding more hatred and violence to the fire. The only antidote to violence is compassion. ~~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Osama Bin Laden is dead.  At last, a dark chapter in America's history can come to a close.  Now let's wrap it up in Iraq, get our boys home, and CLOSE GITMO.  Try the prisoners in military court or civilian court; kill them, free them, or ship them off to a room without doors for the rest of their lives... whatever.  It's time.

To add on to Cutter's post...

I heard there was a guy on the ground for a short time before the SEALs arrived, to ensure OBL wasn't bailing at the last second...makes a great level for another "Splinter Cell."  lol

Luckily, I put down my coffee before reading it. I'm sure Sarah will be flattered being referred to as Michelle Bachman's mother (even though only meant figuratively) since Palin's about 47 and Bachmann is a bona fide 55. As I've posted elsewhere, all else being equal (i.e.: they're both unable to speak for some reason) I'd much rather bone Bachmann.

And folks probably thought my embrace of cuttlefish sex was evidence of my advanced state of perversion! Bachmann trumps cuttlefish by a lot on the 'weirdness' scale IMO. ;)

I got a double laugh when I saw the ignore request, when it was the person who address the issue to me, not just once but twice. Ever see a bad movie when some kid playing football and accidentally score for the wrong team? I didn't thank the person properly for making a valid point for me. That was a great link and explanation of how the document was doctored! Thank you!

But killing Osama doesn't change anything until our people come home from the war. That is who I am voting for! Capturing him alive would have been ideal, but you don't get what you want, and not worth getting your pantie in a wad if you don't get it. We have eliminated our reason for being there. Can we go home soon?

He doesn't need to fear that since both he (Saturday Night Live on NBC) and Chump (The Apprentice/The **29** Apprentice on NBC) both have the same employer :)

I think this is an interesting read, and when it comes to the excessive whooping-and-hollering form of celebration that's been going on lately, I have to say that I agree with the author:
Huffington Post: "The Psychology of Revenge: Why We Should Stop Celebrating Osama Bin Laden's Death "

Within hours of the news being made public, these shirts were being sold on the streets of Washington DC:
